All acts bona fide done by any meeting of the Board or by any such committee or by any person acting as a Director shall, notwithstanding that it shall be afterwards discovered that there was some defect in the appointment of such Director or persons acting as aforesaid or that they or any of them were disqualified, be as valid as if every such person had been duly appointed and was qualified to be a Director or member of such committee.

At its sixty-fourth session, the General Assembly, together with the Security Council, elected Ms. Xue Hanqin (China) as a member of the Court for a term of office beginning on 29 June 2010 and expiring on 5 February 2012, as a result of the resignation of Mr. Shi Jiuyong (decision 64/426 A), and elected Ms. Joan Donoghue (United States of America) as a member of the Court for a term of office beginning on 9 September 2010 and expiring on 5 February 2015, as a result of the resignation of Mr. Thomas Buergenthal (decision 64/426 B).

A host of concrete proposals were suggested to the coordinators of the Dialogue, such as: dialogue and networking among universities; dialogue among young scientists, involving UNESCO chairholders in dialogue activities; dialogue among student journalists and seasoned media practitioners from both regions; the holding of youth forums; reactivation of the Committee for the Translation of Literary Works and increase in the translation of Arabic works into European languages; a comparative study of school textbooks; dialogue involving professionals from cultural industries; the organization of an interregional conference on the image of Arab-Islamic culture in European history books.

Through conversation with some of the rally participants and on-the-spot experiences, the author believed that while some participants were radical, some were, nevertheless, relatively mild and rational, and less active in expressing their opinions in the past.

Shengtao (China) said that her Government, in its comments contained in document A/CN.9/704/Add.1, had suggested that the reference to the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in paragraph 1 should be deleted, as that article had not been thoroughly discussed by the Working Group.
