Several speakers suggested that the report follow more closely the structure and sequence of the TCPR resolution of December 2007, and the management implementation plan set out in the report of the Secretary-General (E/2008/49) and taken note of by the Economic and Social Council in resolution 2008/2 in July 2008.

The key areas of importance with regard to human resources were set out in three reports in particular: the detailed proposals for streamlining United Nations contractual arrangements (A/63/298), the report on amendments to the Staff Regulations (A/63/189) and the report on recruitment and staffing in the United Nations (A/63/285), which focused on the roster-based approach to staffing.

The Observer concluded his presentation by highlighting the long-standing collaboration with Codex, the need to focus on the complementarity of work between Codex and ISO and strengthen relations between the Codex and ISO Secretariats, between the Codex Committees and the ISO Technical Committees, and between Codex and ISO Members.
