This Agreement represents the understanding of the Governments of the Cook Islands,Kiribati,Marshall Islands (the), the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu (each of them will be referred as “the Country”) and the Executive Committee with respect to the reduction of controlled use of the ozone-depleting substances (ODS) setout inAppendix 1-A (“The Substances”) to a sustained aggregate level of 2.11 ODP tonnes prior to 1 January 2020 in compliance with Montreal Protocol schedules, with the understanding that this figure is to be revised one single time in 2011, when the baseline consumption for compliance would be established based on Article 7 data, with the funding to be adjusted accordingly, as per decision 60/44.

Cooperation with the work of the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change: (a) in recognition of the work developed by the ARPEL Climate Change Working Groupsince its creation in 1999, the secretariat of the Framework Convention accepted ARPEL as an official observer to the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol and its subsidiary bodies, during the tenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in December 2004 in Buenos Aires; (b) ARPEL report on the contribution of the oil and gas industry to greenhouse gas emissions reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean was presented at the same Conference; (c) participation of ARPEL at the eleventh Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in November and December 2005 inMontreal,Canada.

The Subcommittee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System has also continued its cooperation with treaty bodies that administer certain international conventions dealing with specific aspects of chemical safety in order to facilitate the implementation of the Globally Harmonized System through such conventions (Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal; MontrealProtocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer; Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants; Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade; and Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents (see also para. 46 below)).

The Committee had before it the report on the United Nations/Malaysia Exper t Meeting on Human Space Technology, held inPutrajaya,Malaysia, from 14 to 18 November 2011 (A/AC.105/1017); the report on the United Nations/NigeriaWorkshop on the International Space Weather Initiative, held in Abuja from 17 to 21 October 2011 (A/AC.105/1018); the report on the United Nations International Meeting on the Applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems, held in Vienna from 12 to 16 December 2011 (A/AC.105/1019); and the report on the United Nations/Viet Nam Workshop on Space Technology Applications for Socio-Economic Benefits, held in Hanoi from 10 to 14 October 2011 (A/AC.105/1020).

I am pleased to report that in three cases — the Đorđević case, the Stanišić and Simatović case, and the Stanišić and Župljanin case — the estimates from the last report (S/2010/413) have been maintained.
