UNESCO, with its multi-sectoral approach, is participating with seven other United Nations agencies and over a dozen national counterparts in the joint programme on nutrition and food security that seeks to improve food safety, especially for child nutrition products, through introduction of international standards in production, processing, testing and preparation of food.

The Hudson, Massachusetts facility follows strict Good Manufacturing Standards as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in accordance with their quality standards AS9100 ISO9001-2008.

With regard to the process of the JECFA re-evaluation of bST, the Commission noted that the JECFA Secretariats would prepare and publish a call for data, including scientific assessments prepared by government authorities, in accordance with its standard procedures for requesting data for veterinary drugs used in food producing animals.

International institutions, such as WHO or the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) may also have an essential role to play in facilitating and financing group purchases of medicines from both brand and generic manufacturers.

(d) Support least developed countries in strengthening effective marketing systems and support frameworks for small commodity producers in least developed countries.

In both countries, new plants are required to demonstrate that adequate provisions have been made to either consume or destroy co-produced CTC.

Pest Control is one of important problems in food production enterprises, which is strictly restricted in some related food safety standards, like HACCP、AIB、BRC and ISO 22000.

For example, as the Monitoring Team of the Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee has observed, Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb has raised a considerable amount of money from kidnappings for ransom and also benefits from the growing use of smuggling routes in the Sahel by drug producers in South America (see S/2011/245).

In 2006, Panama faced a serious crisis when, as a result of the ingestion and use of medicines produced by the Social Security Laboratory that were contaminated with the toxin diethylene glycol, a large number of users of public health services presented with acute and chronic renal failure and dysfunction of the gastrointestinal and nervous systems, with several dying and others suffering chronic illnesses as a result.

These three drivers will be the catalyst for six “mega trends”: increased demand for packaged food; greater diversification of consumer needs; changing dynamics in food manufacturing and retailing; more food safety awareness; rising competitive pressure; and acceleration in green solutions as a “musthave” for businesses.

The ethic ensures the safest possible management of chemical products throughout their life cycle, from the planning of new products through their manufacture, distribution, use, and ultimate disposal.
