This is important, because we often see the misuse of diversity in order to fuel discontent and conflict for spurious reasons.

The hostile use of telecommunications, with thedeclared orhidden intent of undermining the legal and political order of States, is a violation of the internationally recognized norms in this area and a negative and irresponsible use of such means, which can give rise to tensions and situations that are not conducive to international peace and security and thereby undermine the principles and purposes enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

Would there be any need for the United States, Japan and the European Union to pursue a confrontational “resolution” if they had no ulterior motive for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and were truly interested in dialogue and cooperation in the area of human rights?

It will become irrefutably evident that the United States and its followers are seeking an ulterior purpose if they refer the case to the Security Council only with their unilateral “results of the investigation” while avoiding objective confirmation about its truth.

Zimbabwe condemns any country or group of countries that uses the plight of young people in weaker States to achieve their own sinister political ends, such as regime change.

The Council’s work should be rid of double standards, disrespect for the principles of sovereign equality and cultural diversity and the manipulation of human rights for ulterior purposes, all of which hindered genuine progress with respect to international cooperation on human rights.

We note with great concern the use of civil society by certain powerful countries to advance their own hidden agendas in the context of the Kimberley Process.
