The Executive Board, at its 171st session, invited the Committee on Conventions and Recommendations to examine the list of these conventions and recommendations, to consider the advisability of continuing to monitor all of these instruments or only of some of them, identifying, in particular, the priority recommendations; to propose new procedures specifically for the monitoring of the implementation of UNESCO conventions and recommendations for which no specific institutional mechanism is provided, and to devise harmonized model guidelines for conventions which are monitored by the Committee (171 EX/Decision 27).

At the 41st meeting, on 25 March 2009, the representative of Austria introduced draft resolution A/HRC/10/L.15, sponsored by Austria and co-sponsored by Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and United Kingdom and Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

A concept paper could be circulated to articulate the rationale for the chosen theme, taking into account the need to (a) carry out the exercise in accordance with the Convention and consistent with the agreements reached at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, particularly chapter 17 of Agenda 21; (b) take into account inputs provided by the Commission on Sustainable Development and other United Nations bodies; (c) avoid the creation of new institutions; (d) avoid duplication and overlapping with specialized forums; (e) consider that it was not intended for the General Assembly to pursue legal or juridical coordination among different legal instruments; (f) bear in mind differing characteristics and needs of different regions of the world; (g) contribute to the annual debate of the General Assembly; and (h) provide an integrated stance of the three pillars of sustainable development.

Save as disclosed above, as at 31st March 2011, none of the Directors or chief executive of the Company or their respective associates had any interests or short positions in the shares, underlying shares of equity derivatives and debentures of the Company or any of its associated corporations (within the meaning of Part XV of the SFO) which would have to be notified to the Company and the Stock Exchange pursuant to Divisions 7 and 8 of Part XV of the SFO (including interests or short positions which they are taken or deemed to have under such provisions of the SFO), or which were required to be kept under section 352 of the SFO, or as otherwise notified to the Company and the Stock Exchange pursuant to the minimum standards of dealing by the Directors of listed issuers as referred to in Rule 5.46 of the GEM Listing Rules.

If we only say that because the Government's objectives are correct, and these objectives have to be achieved by carrying out this work, and therefore we cannot and need not monitor the process involved; or as pointed out by Mr LAU Kong-wah, once monitoring is carried out, the highly confidential nature and effectiveness of such work would be compromised, which would in turn jeopardize the security of the whole society; if this attitude is adopted ― I stress again ― if such logic, attitude or stance is adopted, there is no need for us to ask any question about the Government's funding proposal of $80 million this year, or $800 million next year or possibly $1.8 billion in the future, because there is nothing we can really ask.

Launches/press conferences/workshops were also organized in Abuja, Bonn, Bahrain, Bratislava, Cairo, Islamabad, New Delhi, Nairobi, Malawi, Muscat, St Petersburg, Oslo, Rabat, Santiago, Semarang, Stockholm, Toronto and Washington DC.

Any person in St. Vincent and the Grenadines or any citizen of St. Vincent and the Grenadines outside St. Vincent and the Grenadines who attempts to commit the above-stated offence; or participates as an accomplice of anyone who commits or attempts to commit that offence; or organises or directs others to commit or attempt to commit that offence; shall likewise be guilty of an offence.

On the other hand utterances of Severus which make Christ's sufferings voluntarily permitted, rather than naturally necessitated by the treatment inflicted on His Body, might perhaps be defended by the consideration that from the union and consequent Beatific Vision in the Soul of Christ, would congruously ensue a beatification of the Soul and a spiritualizing of the Body, as was actually the case after the Resurrection; from this point of view it is true that the possibility of the Humanity is voluntary (that is, decreed by the Divine will) and not due to it in the state which is connatural to it after the union; although the Human Nature is of its own nature passible apart from the union (St. Thomas, III, Q. xiv, a. 1, ad 2).

Since the Chief Executive had said that the Falun Gong was no doubt an evil cult in the last Question and Answer Session of this Council, and as the Government has not yet defined an evil cult, can the Government tell this Council what definition does the SAR Government base on to support the stance as expressed by the Chief Executive on that occasion that the Falun Gong is an evil cult?

That this Council urges the Government to revise the proposal for the development of South East Kowloon, undertake a thorough consultation process and formulate a plan which is both visionary and sustainable and seeks to provide livable communities to meet the public's 21st century expectations; the area to be reclaimed under the plan should be reduced to protect the harbour’s resources; the Government should also carry out urban renewal expeditiously in the northern part of the site in recognition of the urgent public housing needs and to provide the space required for resettling the residents displaced in the process of redeveloping some of the other older parts of Kowloon; at the same time, there must be a comprehensive railway development programme to ensure that the construction of the railway network synchronizes with the development of the area.

At the 1st plenary meeting, on 9 May, the Conference decided to appoint the following countries as members of the Credentials Committee: Bahamas, China, Finland, Gabon, Guatemala, Kenya, Russian Federation, Singapore and United States of America.

The Commission recognized that its evaluation policy is in line with the norms and standards of the United Nations Evaluation Group and the Secretary-General’s Bulletin on Regulations and Rules Governing Programme Planning, the Programme Aspects of the Budget, the Monitoring of Implementation and the Methods of Evaluation (ST/SGB/2000/8), endorsed the recommendations contained in the report on the evaluation of the work of the Commission and called upon the Executive Secretary to continue efforts to improve the performance of the secretariat through, inter alia, evaluation of the work of the secretariat and review of its internal structure to achieve the highest standards of effectiveness and efficiency.

At its 1st meeting, on 23 February, the Special Committee adopted suggestions relating to the organization of its work put forward by the Chair (see A/AC.109/2012/L.2) and, in accordance with paragraph 31 of General Assembly decision 34/401 on the rationalization of the procedures and organization of the Assembly and based on practice initiated by the Committee in 2005, the Committee decided to continue to formulate its decisions in General Assembly form and to submit them to the Assembly at its sixty-seventh session.

At the 41st meeting, on 24 March 2010, the representative of Cuba introduced draft resolution A/HRC/13/L.17, sponsored by Cuba and co-sponsored by Algeria, Austria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Djibouti, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Morocco, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Palestine, Panama, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Togo, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of), Viet Nam and Zimbabwe.

In hot pursuit of environment-friendly society and innovative lighting, around the year 2000, Mr. Shen Gumao predicted that a better new illuminant must appear in the early 50 years of the 21st century, which is closely connected with the progress of electron device and electronic circuit; and he also forecasted that there would be two excellent illuminants in the future, one of them, the semiconductor LED, and the other one, electrodeless discharge illuminant, namely induction lamp, whose lighting effect and color rendering would obviously be increased in comparison with traditional lights and which would be energy-saving and pollution-free.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 53/207 and 54/236 and decision 54/474, attention is drawn to Secretary-General’s bulletin ST/SGB/2000/8, which contains the approved Regulations and Rules Governing Programme Planning, the Programme Aspects of the Budget, the Monitoring of Implementation and the Methods of Evaluation.

Profit for the six months ended 30th June 2004 and for the year ended 31st December 2004 have been decreased by HK$22 million and HK$6 million respectively.

Bearing in mind the well-known Turkish political stance on Cyprus, it is more than obvious that Turkey decided to participate in the intergovernmental process of the review of Cyprus for the sole and deliberate purpose of questioning the very existence of the State under review; Turkey’s calculated goal was to include its own political position and subjective interpretation of the Cyprus problem in the universal periodic review report on Cyprus.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines does not possess the capacity required to provide assistance to other States to aid implementation of the measures contained in Security Council resolutions 1267 and 1455.

Nevertheless China is in a position to use more diplomatic, economic and military leverage than it currently employs and to work more closely with the rest of the international community on coordinating a united stance.

Goodwill previously eliminated against reserves, totalling HK$3,274 million as at 1st January 2005, is not reinstated on the balance sheet or included in the calculation of the profit or loss on disposal of subsidiary, jointly controlled and associated company.

(h) Supporting field operations through the provision of accurate and timely geographic information and terrain analysis in support of decision-making and operational needs; providing cartographic and geographic information services to the Security Council and senior management of the United Nations; producing planning and operational maps and geospatial data to meet the needs of field operations; providing oversight of and coordinating activities with the geographic information sections and units of field operations; researching and analysing international boundary issues to provide technical assistance to international boundary demarcation processes; and clearing maps to be printed in official publications of the United Nations in accordance with ST/AI/189/Add.25/Rev.1.

Currently, UN-SPIDER regional support offices are being hosted by six national organizations (the Algerian Space Agency, the Iranian Space Agency, the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, the Romanian Space Agency and the National Space Agency of Ukraine) and by four regional organizations (the Asian Disaster Reduction Center, based in Kobe, Japan; the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development, based in Nairobi; the University of the West Indies, based in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago; and the Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC), based in Panama City).

The Group also recalled her recommendations for the project to have a dedicated on-site unit within the Office to take charge of it and ensure adequate capacity and ability; that day-to-day supervision should be in the hands of managers in Nairobi, with Headquarters in New York providing guidance and support as required; that, in accordance with Secretary-General’s Bulletin ST/SGB/2008/7 on the organization of the United Nations Office at Nairobi, delegation of authority should be granted to her and the Executive Services Management Board should be involved as appropriate; and that the project should have an independent oversight mechanism.

It stated that it was therefore highly unlikely that Jamaica would change its stance and vote in favour of the General Assembly resolution on a moratorium on the death penalty or move to an abstention.

Others interesting cities are; Murat, where walking around its medieval streets and ramparts is very pleasant, St Flour, a medieval town of some importance, rivalling Aurillac as the capital of the department but also Chaudes–Aigues, a spa town where the hot springs are used to treat rheumatism and provide an under floor heating system for most of the houses and the swimming pool.
