Liberal Unionist

- a member of a group of British Liberal MPs who left the party in 1886 because of Gladstone's support for Irish Home Rule. Led by Joseph Chamberlain from 1891, they formed an alliance with the Conservative Party in Parliament, and merged officially with them in 1909 as the Conservative and Unionist Party.自由党统一派成员(指英国自由党国会一议员集团的成员, 该集团因格莱斯顿支持爱尔兰自治法案而于1886年脱离自由党; 自1891年起在约瑟夫·张伯伦领导下与国会中的保守党人结成联盟, 并于1909年正式合并, 称为保守统一党)。
