WORD TRENDS
Most of us still think of helm as primarily a nautical word, but according to the Oxford English Corpus the verb is now primarily a cinematic one. The sense 'direct a film', which dates from 1930, is dominant, with the commonest objects being film and movie. Ship comes in at number three, but is then followed by a long sequence of words such as comedy, remake, adaptation, and thriller.
词源
Old English helma; probably related to HELVE.
