Wöhler
/ˈvɜːlə(r), 〈德〉 ˈvøːlɐ/- Wöhler, Friedrich (1800-82), German chemist. His synthesis of urea from ammonium cyanate in 1828 demonstrated that organic compounds could be made from inorganic compounds.
