Chernivtsi
/tʃəˈnɪvtsɪ/- a city in western Ukraine, in the foothills of the Carpathians, close to the border with Romania; pop. 249,500 (est. 2009). It was part of Romania between 1918 and 1940. Russian name CHERNOVTSY /ˌtʃernəvˈtsɪ/.切尔尼夫齐（乌克兰西部城市, 位于近罗马尼亚边境喀尔巴阡山脉山麓中, 2009年估计人口249,500, 1918-1940年属罗马尼亚; 俄语名CHERNOVTSY）。
