Meroe
/ˈmerəʊɪ/- an ancient city on the Nile, in present-day Sudan north-east of Khartoum. Founded in c.750 BC, it was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Cush from c.590 BC until it fell to the invading Aksumites in the early 4th century AD.麦罗埃（尼罗河畔古城, 今苏丹喀土穆东北; 约建于公元前750年, 公元前约590年起成为古库施王国首都, 直至公元4世纪早期阿克苏姆人入侵陷落）。
