Montpelier, Vermont




Montpelier /mɒntˈpiːliər/ is the capital of the state of Vermont and the shire town (seat) of Washington County. As the capital of Vermont, Montpelier is the site of the state government. The population was 7,855 at the 2010 census. The municipality is the least populous state capital in the United States. The Vermont College of Fine Arts and New England Culinary Institute are located in the municipality. A city, the municipality was named for Montpellier, France.
