should or would? When ‘I’ or ‘we’ is the subject of the modal verb either would or should can be used in polite requests, for describing the results of imagined situations, or for talking about past intentions or plans, but would is more common 在表达客气的请求、虚拟情况的结果或者过去的意图及打算时,如果主语是I 或we, 用would 或should 均可,不过would 更为常见 :I would/should like to discuss the matter with you.我想和你谈谈这件事。 If I had enough money, I would/should buy a Mercedes.如果我有足够的钱的话,我就买辆梅赛德斯轿车。 I said that I would/should be willing to help.. 我说我会乐意帮忙的。 When the subject is not ‘I’ or ‘we’ , would is always used主语不是I 或we时,总是用would:He would like to see you.他会乐意见你的。You promised you wouldn’ t be late.你答应过不迟到的。
