The term permissible running deviation comprises all tolerances which affect bearing running accuracy: radial runout, side face runout relative to the raceway and runout relative to the bore.

If an analyzer with a small level deviation is used, allowing for larger DUT tolerances, the result will be a significant reduction in the production of nonconforming products with immediate benefits.

For any given basic size, a range of tolerances and deviations may be specified with respect to the line of zero deviation, called the zero line.
