肥胖患儿常有食欲奇佳的现象，这与神经中枢的食欲调节功能有关，在下丘脑有饱食中枢（satiety center）和食饵中枢（feeding center），若前者破坏时食欲大增，后者破坏时拒食，两者相互制约，保持平衡才会有正常的食欲感或饥饱感。
