More than 11 million people from groups deemed a "priority", are being offered the jab, alongside two million health and social care staff.

Peter Carmel, president of the American Medical Association, said technology "offers great potential in health care," but he added that doctors' first priority should be with the patient.

The Expert Committee also identifies knowledge gaps and makes recommendations for future research that may be needed about medicines for the treatment of priority health problems.
