The Secretary-General’s previous proposals on the ERP implementation strategy (A/62/510/Rev.1, paras. 40–45) suggested that the ERP project would be designed, built, tested and deployed in two waves: the first to be completed over a 30-month period by the end of 2010, for the core finance, human resources, procurement and asset management functions required for compliance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS); and a second wave over a 24-month period for design-build-test-deployment of the remaining functions, such as results-based management, risk management, transportation and travel.

The UNESCO Forum on Higher Education, Research and Knowledge, launched during 2002-2003, provides a platform for scholars, policy-makers and experts to interact and engage critically with higher education and research issues, regionally through five Regional Scientific Committees and globally through the Global Scientific Committee, a global think-tank concerned with strategic higher education and knowledge concerns and policies, and through a major annual global event, gathering experts and policy-makers to share and debate specific themes.

The serious engagement of Palestinian factions over the past month in a dialogue process mediated by Egypt has led to the establishment of five committees that are working on national reconciliation issues, the successful outcome of the Cairo international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza and the further efforts of the Palestinian Authority to improve socio-economic rehabilitation and reconstruction, especially in the face of the devastating global financial crisis.

In this connection, Egypt, which hosted the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Economy for the Reconstruction of Gaza early this month, renews its call for Israel to ensure the immediate, unconditional and sustained reopening of its crossing points with the Gaza Strip in order to allow for the movement of people, goods and reconstruction materials into Gaza, put an end to the continuously escalating humanitarian crisis, and rebuild what was destroyed.

In addition, this month Bolivia has requested to be incorporated as a full member of MERCOSUR, a fact that will also have direct impact on UNESCO’s actions in the subregion.

These include, but are not limited to, talented young voices giving expression, through word and image, to their expectations of the Organization and those who lead its Member States; scholars, students and teachers who see in their work a discernible United Nations “impact”; college students who adapt the dynamism of the General Assembly’s possibilities to a “Global Model United Nations” that is entirely their own; non-governmental organizations and individuals who breathe new life into long-debated topics with the vigour of a vaster geographical base and greater opportunities for participation; Governments, research institutions and the media, which seek, and can now find, the recorded positions of Member States on key issues in readily accessible form; and the creative community, which sees in matters vital to the Organization’s agenda the chance to reach its audiences in a fashion that informs as it entertains.

(ix) establish a resource centre in Africa to facilitate exchanges between policymakers, scholars, civil society and other interested parties on ethical, legal and social concerns stemming from advances in the life sciences, especially in bioethics, with particular interest to Africa and other developing regions, share information on international instruments development challenges and priorities and the ways and means of developing and implementing national policy frameworks in the field of bioethics.

Resources will also be used to augment regular budget resources for the organization of expert group meetings; for recruiting consultants to support areas where expertise does not exist in the Section, as well as for data collection at the national level; for covering staff travel to provide technical services to member States; and for recruiting visiting scholars and fellows to provide in-depth analysis to the outputs of the subprogramme.

The Expatriate Employment Regulation that came into force in April 2009 imposes the following duties on the employer: be responsible for the employee during their stay in the Maldives; to pay the salary before the 7th of each month, due for work done during the past month; to provide adequate food and accommodation to the employee for the duration of the employment; to pay all expenses as agreed in the contract; to pay the work permit and all related fees; and to pay for all the costs of repatriating the expatriate employee, in case the Government requests such, prior to the end of the duration of the work permit.

The Commission noted: that the mid-term review would start in September, or one or two month later depending on the scope of data and information necessary for the review; that while the mid-term review was initially part of the activities of the Trust Fund, WHO would try to identify a possible donor in order to carry out the review without drawing resources from the Trust Fund; and that the contribution and engagement of Members would be sought throughout the process of the mid-term review.

It consists of: (a) historic archives containing documents and audiovisual material relating to the negotiation and adoption of legal instruments under the auspices of the United Nations and related organizations since 1945; (b) a lecture series featuring a permanent collection of lectures on international law, including the law of the sea, given by leading international law scholars and practitioners; and (c) a research library providing an online international law library with links to treaties, jurisprudence, publications, documents, scholarly writings and research guides.

(f) To lend money to such persons or companies and on such terms as may seem expedient, and in particular to customers and others having dealings with the Company, and to guarantee the performance of contracts by any such persons or companies, and/or to advance and lend money on the security of land, buildings, hereditaments and premises of any tenure or description, shares, securities, merchandise and other property upon such terms as may be arranged, and in particular so that any loan including interest thereon may by made repayable by monthly or quarterly instalments or otherwise.

In the first of the cases the trial was in progress, in the second it was scheduled and would start this month, while the third case was at the stage of deciding on the objections to the indictment.

The most workable options for the funding of magistrates would be: (a) recruitment nationally or from Commonwealth or common law countries where candidates would find the Kenyan salary attractive, in which event, UNODC would reimburse the $1,400 per month for each magistrate to the Government; or (b) recruitment from Commonwealth or common law countries where candidates may not find the Kenyan salary attractive, in which case, the most workable solution would be for the judges to be provided gratis by their home country.

I have the honour to write to you in your capacity as President of the Security Council for the month of January 2011 and would like to request your kind assistance in circulating as a document of the Security Council the present letter and its annexes: a letter addressed to the Secretary-General by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, H.E. Sergey Bagapsh (annex I) and a letter addressed to the Secretary-General by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, H.E. Murat Jioev, enclosing the statement of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, H.E. Eduard Kokoity (see annex II).

In compliance with that procedure, the Director-General informed the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) maintaining operational relations under the aforementioned directives, and also the foundations and similar institutions maintaining official relations, of the holding of the 33rd session of the General Conference, sent them the provisional agenda and invited them to notify him at least one month before the opening of the session if they wished to be represented at it by observers, requesting them to indicate to him at the same time the agenda items in whose consideration their representatives would like to participate.

Interestingly, except for the lowest income group, the higher the income the higher the number of persons consuming six or more units of alcohol at a time at least once a month.

Rule 7.24(5) is amended to read: “If the proposed open offer would increase either the issued share capital (excluding treasury shares) or the market capitalisation of the issuer by more than 50% (on its own or when aggregated with any other open offers or rights issues announced by the issuer (i) within the 12 month period immediately preceding the announcement of the proposed open offer or (ii) prior to such 12 month period where dealing in respect of the shares issued pursuant thereto commenced within such 12 month period, together with any bonus securities (other than any such bonus securities to be issued into treasury), warrants or other convertible securities (assuming full conversion) granted or to be granted to shareholders as part of such rights issues or open offers):-”.

This should include, as part of the month-end finance procedures, the reperformance of a sample of bank reconciliations to assure management that reconciliations are timely and accurate and that items requiring reconciliation have been properly resolved.

In addition, the Company’s annual report is required to disclose details regarding repurchases of Shares made during the financial year, including a monthly analysis of the number of shares repurchased, the purchase price per Share or the highest and lowest price paid for all such purchases, where relevant, and the aggregate prices paid.

Besides Father Paulinus, already mentioned, are the Abbé Roussel, who was chosen to assist in completing the translation of the voluminous "Bhagavata Purana", begun by Burnouf, and who has besides published interesting studies on Hinduism; the Abbé Dubois, who published a masterly exposition of Modern Hinduism under the title "Hindu Manners, Customs and Ceremonies" (Oxford, 1897); and Father J. Dahlmann, SJ Finally, it is but fair to note that considerable excellent work is being done by native Hindu scholars in translating and interpreting sacred Hindu texts.

Many of these scholars are credited with only a few sentences or with even but one, while to others are ascribed many hundreds of aphorisms, teachings, questions, and answers; and the representatives of Jewish tradition of those centuries, the Tannaim and the Amoraim, received an abundant compensation for their renunciation of the fame of authorship when tradition preserved their names together with their various expositions, and thus rescued even the least of them from oblivion.

According to a scholar with the public security ministry, Chen Wei, the nine dragons include the PLAN, Customs Law Enforcement (General Administration of Customs), China Fisheries Law Enforcement Command (agriculture ministry), Marine Safety Administration (transport ministry), Search and Rescue Centre (transport ministry), Maritime Police (public security ministry), border police (public security ministry), China Marine Surveillance (State Oceanic Administration), and maritime environmental protection.

High level of coverage has also been achieved due to the fact that unemployment insurance also includes persons employed on the basis of temporary employment contracts, contracts under the law of obligations, and part-time workers – insurance protection is not dependent on the number of hours worked or the amount of contributions paid per month.

During the year, income tax payers are obliged to pay a tax advance before the 20th day in the month following the month in which the tax obligation arose or, in the case of ‘small’ taxpayers, before the 20th day of the month following the quarter in which the tax obligation arose.
