Stage I of the HPMP as submitted will reduce HCFC consumption by 50.8 ODP tonnes, equivalent to 37.6 per cent of the baseline, composed of 12.9 ODP tonnes in consumption in previously funded phase-out of both HCFC-22 and HCFC-141b at the Al Hafez Group, a further 37.9 ODP tonnes through conversion of a system house and its associated customers.

a) To define “pesticide” and other related terms in a way consistent with Codex; b) To provide a list of maximum residue limits (MRLs) and extraneous maximum residue limits (EMRLs), to adopt MRLs/EMRLs recommended by Codex as the backbone as well as the Codex’s classification of foods; c) To prohibit the import and sale of the concerned food for which no MRL/EMRL had been specified, unless DFEH was satisfied that the detected level would not be dangerous or prejudicial to health; d) To provide a list of exempted substances; e) To accept applications for adding / revising MRLs and exempted substances; f) To dovetail the proposed Regulation with the registration of pesticides for use on food crops under the PO, Cap. 133; and g) To commence the proposed Regulation after a two-year grace period.

The activities undertaken within this function will include: (a) producing country, regional and global-level technical and programme guidance covering the substantive areas in which UN-Women works, from ending violence against women to increasing women’s contributions to peace and security; (b) devising and coordinating multi-stakeholder, holistic country programmes that involve inter-agency participation and national partners in line with national and regional policies and priorities and that are consistent with UN-Women’s Strategic Plan; (c) ongoing, on-demand technical support to national partners and UNCTs in UN-Women’s core areas of work (e.g., support to NWMs; support to women’s organizations and networks; support to the Resident Coordinator and gender thematic groups; and support to reporting on and implementing CEDAW); and (d) the management and monitoring of global programmes and trust funds.

Two documents submitted to ESCWA at its twenty-fifth session, in May 2008 (E/ESCWA/25/4(Part II)/A and B, on strengthening regional cooperation for achieving the Millennium Development Goals and achievements and progress made in attaining the Millennium Development Goals in the Arab countries: challenges and policies) facilitated substantive discussions on the necessary future actions for the achievement of the Goals.

The five factors with the most potential to cause slippage in projected estimates for completion of judgements on appeal are the delays associated with or caused by: (a) the nature of multi-appellant cases; (b) the inordinate amount of pre-appeal motions; (c) the inordinate length of time for translation of trial judgements into Bosnian/Croatian/ Serbian, as well as for translation of written submissions into one of the Tribunal’s working languages and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, especially in cases of selfrepresented appellants; (d) amendments to grounds of appeal, especially following translation of the trial judgement (mainly for represented appellants); and (e) understaffing and/or lack of experience in appeals support.

The Executive Secretary informed the Commission about the steps the secretariat had initiated to strengthen the resultsoriented focus of its technical cooperation work, which included: (a) larger, longerterm and better aligned capacity development projects, with emphasis on improved performance throughstrengthened results-based management; (b) a resource mobilization strategy that provides a framework for a more proactive approach to partnerships and donor relations, and the establishment of a Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Section; (c) continued efforts to strengthen relations with partners through meetings with a number of member States and donor agencies; and (d) enhanced engagement with some private sector counterparts as partners in promoting and delivering capacity development.

The present Agreed Conditions between the Government of Kenya and the Executive Committee have been updated as a result of the change in implementing agency and the project in post-harvest applications as indicated inparagraphs 1 (b) and 1 (c) above respectively, without impact on the project signed by the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Wildlife at project inception.
