Upon the adoption of amendments to HKAS 12, the deferred tax liability in respect of revaluation of investment properties at 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2011 has been restated from $16,967,000 to $13,283,000 and $22,632,000 to $14,674,000 respectively, deferred tax assets in respect of tax losses at 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2011 have been restated from $3,183,000 to nil and $7,452,000 to nil respectively, deferred tax liabilities in respect of depreciation allowances in excess of the related depreciation at 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2011 have been restated from $12,450,000 to $12,951,000 and $13,456,000 to $13,962,000 respectively, the deferred tax expense in respect of the net valuation gain of investment properties for the period ended 30 June 2011 has been restated from $3,214,000 to $789,000 and the deferred tax credit in respect of tax losses for the period ended 30 June 2011 has been restated from $2,425,000 to nil.

As of January 1, 2012, and September 30, 2012, due to the change of the functional currency, the effect of subsidiaries were as follows: the goodwill was decreased by $138 thousand and increased by $681 thousand, respectively; other payables increased by $6 thousand and zero, respectively; the effects of changes in foreign exchange rates increased by $16,619 thousand and $21,360 thousand, respectively; for the nine months ended September 30, 2012, the adjustment of amortization was decreased by $963 thousand; interest income was decreased by $4 thousand and other losses – currency exchange losses was increased by $5,601 thousand with subsidiaries as mentioned above.

Note: Bills receivable are with maturity of less than 6 months, of which approximately HK$613,226,000 (2007: HK$366,887,000) has been discounted to banks or endorsed to suppliers.

From the continuing operations, the sales to customers in Hong Kong and Greater China for the year ended 31 December 2012 are HK$508,048,000 (2011: HK$325,326,000) and HK$258,623,000 (2011: HK$230,039,000) respectively, and the total sales to customers in other countries is HK$1,012,874,000 (2011: HK$1,024,281,000).

Other income increased from HK$26.9 million in 2006 to HK$90.5 million in 2007. The increase was mainly due to the tax refund granted to the Group as a result of its reinvestment in a PRC subsidiary .

The calculation of basic and diluted earnings per share from continuing and discontinued operations are based on the profit for the year from the continuing and discontinued operations of HK$122,695,000 (2010: HK$132,900,000) and HK$549,885,000 (2010: HK$114,483,000) respectively and the denominators detailed above.

Aggregate revenue from that customer amounted to HK$998.1 million and was derived from building construction (2011: HK$631.1 million from building construction and property and facility management services).

These prices are set between the existing retail price for chilled chickens at wet market which is around $33 and the retail price of freshly slaughtered chickens which is around $55 less the 10% margin currently earned by retailers.

In 2011-12, the expenditure for organising publicity and public education programmes in relation to the COIAO was $6.7 million, representing a substantial increase of around 50% as compared to that of $4.4 million in 2009-10.

Profit after finance costs was HK$22.1 million, including a revaluation gain of HK$10.8 million on the portion of Hsin Chong Center which was classified as an investment property, HK$6.9 million net impairment provision for Wen Chang Pavilion in Guangzhou, PRC, and a write-back of HK$1.7 million on the impairment provision for unsold stock of carpark property at Lung Mun Oasis, Tuen Mun (2007: HK$62.3 million, including a revaluation gain of HK$6.3 million on the portion of Hsin Chong Center classified as an investment property, a write-back of HK$38.4 million on the impairment provision for Wen Chang Pavilion in Guangzhou, PRC, and a profit of HK$4.8 million on the disposal of property interests in Vietnam).

As the overall Hong Kong economy suffered a heavy blow in the early part of 2009, the CEPA-induced business receipts obtained by Hong Kong companies also recorded a significant decline, by around 24%, from HK$20.4 billion in 2008 to HK$15.5 billion in 2009.

The decrease was mainly attributable to: (i) no interest on convertible bonds was recorded in the first-half of 2008 (2007: HK$42.6 million) as the conversion of outstanding bonds had been completed in 2007; and (ii) decrease in interest income because of lower interest rate and less surplus cash was kept in the first-half of 2008.

(d) Tax attributable to associates and jointly controlled entities for the year ended 31 December 2010 of HK$105 million (2009: HK$54 million) is included in the share of results after tax of associates and jointly controlled entities.

On existing terms and conditions, the projected annual net payments (i.e. payments less receipts) of the schemes under the Loan Fund will increase from some $1.1 billion in 2005-06 to some $1.4 billion in 2009-10.

The sales to customers in Hong Kong and Greater China for the six months ended 30 June 2010 are HK$133,592,000 (for the six months ended 30 June 2009 : HK$123,826,000) and HK$80,848,000 (for the six months ended 30 June 2009 : HK$68,903,000) respectively, and the total sales to customers in other countries is HK$475,336,000 (for the six months ended 30 June 2009 : HK$352,132,000).

The dividend of RMB 20,000,000 for the period ended 30th June 2000 (also the pro-forma year ended 30th June 2000) was the payment made by Timor to its then shareholders prior to the completion of the Reconstruction on 1st December 2000.

The share capital of the Company is HK$200,000,000 divided into 2,000,000,000 shares of a nominal or par value of HK$0.10 each with power for the Company insofar as is permitted by law, to redeem or purchase any of its shares and to increase or reduce the said capital subject to the provisions of the Companies Law (2000 Revision) and the Articles of Association and to issue any part of its capital, whether original, redeemed or increased with or without any preference, priority or special privilege or subject to any postponement of rights or to any conditions or restrictions and so that unless the conditions of issue shall otherwise expressly declare every issue of shares whether declared to be preference or otherwise shall be subject to the powers hereinbefore contained.

The Director, GHK (Hong Kong) Limited added that on the one hand, the estimated value of the rental income for RDE, adopted by Knight Frank, the GHK team’s property valuers, of $30 per square foot was being criticized for possibly being too high but exactly the same assumption adopted in calculating the land value, was now being criticized for being too low.

Taking into account the monetised time savings, as well as other benefits such as operating cost savings and safety benefits, the economic benefits including time savings over 30 years of the operation of SIL (East) are estimated to be about $32 billion in 2006 prices.

For employees with hourly wage at $28 or above in September 2010, 12.2% and 14.3% of the responding enterprises in the retail and restaurant sectors respectively indicated that they envisaged wage increases for these employees, mainly caused by staff turnover together with recruitment difficulty and labour shortage in the sector owing to the implementation of SMW.
