In his briefing on 11 June 2010, the Prosecutor referred to the decision of Pre-Trial Chamber informing the Security Council about the lack of cooperation by the Sudan in the case against Mr. Harun and Mr. Ali Kushayb (see S/2010/265), which established that the Sudan was not complying with Security Council resolution 1593 (2005).

The Ministers welcomed the positive political developments and progress made in the Djibouti peace process, including the appointment of H.E. Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed as the Prime Minister of the TFG of Somalia and the formation of the new technocratic cabinet and assured their commitment and support.

Specific activities that assisted countries in relation to terrorism targeted at food products included: (a) capacity-building (training courses, projects) concerning food safety, animal and plant health, including promotion of risk analyses and developing base-level capacity to ensure national ability to monitor, diagnose, report and respond to pest and disease outbreaks; (b) the standard setting work of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the International Plant Protection Convention; (c) the establishment of a Food Chain Crisis Management Framework for prevention, early warning, preparedness and response to food chain crises caused by transboundary animal and plant pests and diseases, food safety threats and emergencies, as well as nuclear and radiological threats and emergencies; and the organization of international forums to discuss biological risk management in relation to food and agriculture.

Within the framework of the ongoing efforts to enhance institutional and human capacities in Africa and with funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ICTP supported the creation of a National Mathematical Centre in Abuja (Nigeria), and launched a programme for training and research in Italian laboratories with emphasis on the African region.

Notwithstanding these challenges, 113 children were confirmed to have been recruited by the following armed forces and groups: Armed Movement of Liberals and Reform (splinter group of JEM and SLA/Abdul Wahid), Border Intelligence Forces, Chadian armed opposition groups, community policing forces, police forces, Popular Defence Forces, SLA/Abu Gasim, SLA/Historical Leadership (splinter group of SLA/Abdul Wahid), SLA/Abdul Wahid, Sudanese Armed Forces and unknown armed groups.

The meeting strongly welcomed the advances in results-based programming which should, nonetheless, be further strengthened and refined with a view to achieving a better balance between qualitative and quantitative indicators, complementarity with the expected outcomes of the Medium-Term Strategy and coherence between expected outcomes, expected results, as well as monitoring instruments and reporting standards.
