The first global Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day is held in more than 100 countries to celebrate the vision of the founder of Special Olympics.

It is through the celebration of this diversity as well as through the promotion of tolerance and dispelling fears of the other, that we will build a more peaceful world, a world based on the fundamental principles of equality, trust and mutual respect.
