Regional conferences and seminars were held in the western Balkans, Western Europe, South-East Asia, the Americas, West and Southern Africa, while country-level events were organized in locations as diverse as Abidjan, Almaty, Bishkek, Batumi, Cotonou, Jakarta, Juba, London, Manila, Maputo, Mexico City, Quito and Windhoek.

The Republic of Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that, despite ongoing political efforts towards the earliest resolution of the conflict on the basis of the generally accepted norms and principles of international law, the policy and practice of the Republic of Armenia, the occupying Power, implemented inter alia through various illegal activities in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, clearly testify to its intention to secure the annexation of these territories (see, for example, the most recent document circulated by Azerbaijan: A/64/760-S/2010/211).

The Government of Montenegro adopted numerous strategic documents and action plans for their implementation, in order to provide protection and respect for human rights, the major among which are as follows: the Strategy of Minority Policy (2008-2012); the Strategy for Improvement of Status of RAE Population in Montenegro (2008-2012); the National Action Plan for the “Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015” in the Republic of Montenegro; the Action Plan for the Achievement of Gender Equality (2008/2012); the Strategy for Development of the Systems of Social and Child Protection in Montenegro (2008-2012); the Integration Strategy for Disabled Persons in Montenegro (2008-2016); the Strategy of Inclusive Education in Montenegro (2008-2012); and the Strategy of Judiciary Reform (2007/2012).

In my capacity as Chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Group in New York, I have the honour to submit to you the Ashgabat Declaration issued by the OIC International Ministerial Conference on Refugees in the Muslim World, held in Ashgabat on 11 and 12 May 2012 (see annex).

I would also like to thank the Secretary-General for his comprehensive report (S/2009/72), the Japanese presidency of the Security Council for convening this open debate, and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Atul Khare, for the tireless work of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) on the ground, which is highly appreciated by the international community.

This Agreement represents the understanding of the Governments of the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Marshall Islands (the), the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu (each of them will be referred as “the Country”) and the Executive Committee with respect to the reduction of controlled use of the ozone-depleting substances (ODS) set out in Appendix 1-A (“The Substances”) to a sustained aggregate level of 2.11 ODP tonnes prior to 1 January 2020 in compliance with Montreal Protocol schedules, with the understanding that this figure is to be revised one single time in 2011, when the baseline consumption for compliance would be established based on Article 7 data, with the funding to be adjusted accordingly, as per decision 60/44.

At the 42nd meeting, on 29 July, the observer for Maldives, on behalf of Australia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Cuba, Dominica, Fiji, Haiti, India, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Maldives, the Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, New Zealand, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Samoa, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uruguay and Vanuatu, introduced a draft resolution entitled “Review of United Nations support for small island developing States” (E/2009/L.35).

With the help of UNAMI, and in particular the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Martin Kobler, 1,200 members of the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran have been transferred from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty.

Even if the content of the letters were to be taken into account, it could well be that the Armenian authorities were merely trying to determine why the author had not shown up for work or where he was residing.

Under the proposed amendments, changed were made in much greater depth than in 2003: resource categories were simplified (Article 4); details are given as to the management of the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists (Article 5, para. 13) was spelled out; a “fundraising strategy” was included in the Statutes (Article 5, para. 14); the frequency of meetings of the Administrative Council was reduced and provisions were made for distance ordinary sessions (Article 5, para. 16 and 17); the Executive Committee was disestablished (former Article 6); and it was confirmed that the Director of the Division whose duties included those relating to the Secretariat of the 2005 Convention “shall serve as Director of the Fund” (new Article 6, para. 2).

Task forces are also planned on education and health and on the relocation of members of the Kosovo Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities to permanent housing, in order to address the critical health risks they face as a result of lead contamination.
