The Constitution, the international human rights treaties signed by Honduras, the State’s respectful acceptance of the competence of international human rights bodies and courts, special domestic legislation, the establishment and strengthening of institutions to promote and safeguard human rights, the creation of new human rights bodies within the Executive, the promotion of a national human rights policy as a basis for a national plan of action, and other initiatives under the “Vision for the Country – Plan for the Nation” strategy, together make up a broad framework underpinning the decisions of the State, a mechanism that is expanding and that will undoubtedly make for progress in the current human rights situation and effective interaction between society and the State.
