Its ongoing participation in United Nations events has been an effective way both to learn from different perspectives and experiences and to advocate for a more just and peaceful world.

Furthermore, the link between high seas fishing and the state of associated species is difficult to determine, since many of the associated species are impacted by fisheries in areas under national jurisdiction, often more so than by high seas fisheries, and by coastal development and other human activities.
