As women of faith rarely engage in interreligious dialogue and many of their good practices have not [...] [...]

It includes good provisions on fees, strong rules on the electronic provision of information and a number of good promotional measures, introduced recently.

However, many people and nations, especially the poorest ones, do not have effective and equitable access to information, and therefore, to development opportunities.

The Commission commended the Subregional Office for acting as the subregional development arm of the United Nations, supporting the work of ESCAP and enhancing the visibility of ESCAP in the subregion by, among other things, facilitating subregional cooperation and disseminating information on good practices, thereby bringing ESCAP closer to governments and people in the subregion.

The work on improvement of regulations is complemented by the exchange of information on registered importers and exporters, and banned substances/equipment through the yearly updated information sheets on licensing by country and the voluntary Prior Informed Consent System.

In many cases, trustbuilding mechanisms do not differ greatly from those with which we are already familiar in other areas (particularly those relating to electronic signatures), and can be established in alternative structures to which, depending on the role of the service providers themselves as trusted third parties (particularly in view of the persons who might acquire an electronic transferable record), other intermediaries and layers of trust can be added, such as certifying or audit entities or possibly the public sector.

The Meeting called upon ESCAP, in cooperation with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and its co-sponsors, to facilitate the exchange of information, experiences and good practices at the regional level to promote universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, and to support governments in conducting periodic regional intergovernmental reviews of progress in fulfilling the international and regional commitments to address HIV and AIDS.
