These Security Council resolutions are clear, focused and strong, and all of them, among other provisions, reaffirm the applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention to the Palestinian Territory occupied by Israel since 1967, including East Jerusalem; deeply regret, deplore and condemn the deportation by Israel, the occupying Power, of Palestinian civilians from the Occupied Palestinian Territory (resolutions 468 (1980), 469 (1980) and 484 (1980) specifically concern the deportation of the Mayors of Al-Khalil (Hebron) and Halhoul and the Sharia Judge of Al-Khalil (Hebron)); call upon Israel to rescind the orders to deport Palestinian civilians; and call upon Israel [...] [...]

Regrettably, the austerity measures the Agency had been forced to apply on various occasions had made the refugee population fearful that the international [...] [...]

These are unfortunate exclusions, not found in most right to information laws, although many do include an exception in favour of cabinet documents.

This is all the more regrettable in that, although their post descriptions remain inapposite, requests for post reclassification submitted by some colleagues in the General Service category (Gs) have been rejected, either for lack of proof deemed convincing by the Administration or for budgetary reasons.

Deeply regretting that the Government of Myanmar did not take the steps necessary to ensure a free, fair, transparent and inclusive electoral process, noting in particular, in this respect, the restrictions imposed by the electoral laws as enacted and implemented by the Government, including those placed on the registration of voters, parties and candidates, as well as the detention of political activists, the restrictions on free reporting and on freedom of assembl y, the limited access to media, funding and campaigning possibilities, the reported incidents of official intimidation, [...] [...]

It must be said that many of the participants expressed regret or astonishment at the absence of representatives of international organizations whose mission involves the subjects dealt with or the populations concerned.

Most significantly, ZANU-PF retains full control of the security apparatus, raising legitimate fears elections could lead to a repeat of the 2008 violence and refusal to accept the democratic will of the people.

In view of this worrying situation, the authorities are trying to reverse those trends, with a resolute commitment to poverty reduction in order to allow greater enjoyment of human rights, particularly the right to live in dignity.
