Following a discussion, the Executive Committee decided to approve the pilot project for validation of methyl formate as a blowing agent in the manufacture of polyurethane foam (phase I) in Brazil at a total cost of US $401,500 plus agency support costs of US $30,113 for UNDP, noting that the project was consistent with decision 55/43(e) and that it had been designed to disseminate the results from the validation of methyl formate technology in rigid and integral skin polyurethane foam applications globally, and on the understanding that the project would be the final validation project for methyl formate in the manufacture of rigid and integral skin polyurethane foams, and that approval of the project was without prejudice to consideration of the future funding request for phase II of the project by the Executive Committee.

In its resolution 1970 (2011), the Council decided that the travel ban and asset freeze should apply to the individuals and entities designated by the Committee (a) involved in or complicit in ordering, controlling or otherwise directing, the commission of serious human rights abuses against persons in Libya, including by being involved in or complicit in planning, commanding, ordering or conducting attacks, in violation of international law, including aerial bombardments, on civilian populations and facilities, or (b) acting for or on behalf of or at the direction of individuals or entities identified in subparagraph (a).

The purpose of these recommendations is to provide guidance to contractors in relation to the books, accounts and financial records to be maintained in accordance with the Regulations, the identification of internationally accepted accounting principles, the format for the presentation of financial information in the annual report, the definition of the actual and direct costs of exploration, and the form of certification of actual and direct exploration expenditures.

The problems that must be solved are: document registration of refugees (absence of identity documents hampers the right to employment); creation of conditions for social integration of recognised refugees, establishment of a legal background that would regulate the integration and its financial support; absence of a placement centre for foreigners that are to be expelled from the Republic of Moldova (the person which was refused the status of refugee, after using all possibilities of appeal, must leave the territory of the Republic of Moldova during 15 days after the final decision on the refusal of the application).

He said that, in light of decision 55/43(e), under which bilateral and implementing agencies had been invited to submit specific projects involving system houses in the development and validation of non-HCFC blowing agents, the Executive Committee might wish to consider approving the pilot project.

WACKER uses in-house criteria and internationally recognized systems, such as the Safety and Quality Assessment System (SQAS) operated by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), to select logistics service providers and evaluate their performance.

Frank and direct dialogue is the only way to achieve a comprehensive, lasting resolution of the Middle East conflict that recognizes Israel’s right to exist and makes possible the establishment of a politically and economically viable Palestinian State, living in peace with Israel within secure and internationally recognized borders, in accordance with Security Council resolutions, the Road Map, the Madrid principles and the Arab Peace Initiative.

As regards activities under the “ethics of science and technology, in particular bioethics”, the suggestion was made to place more emphasis on information and sensitization of the public-at-large and decision-makers, on the development of further normative instruments, on the promotion of ethics education, on the ethics of the use of science and technology, capacity-building and on multidisciplinary action.

We will reinforce cooperation with each other and work with UNHCR and other relevant stakeholders, as appropriate, to deepen our understanding of evolving patterns of displacement and to agree upon ways to respond to the challenges we face in a changing global context.

The State party should further strengthen its efforts to improve the access to medical and psychological services for victims of torture, especially during and after imprisonment, and assure that they receive effective and prompt rehabilitation services; raise awareness on the consequences of torture and the need for rehabilitation for victims of torture among health and social welfare professionals in order to increase referrals of these victims from the primary health-care system to specialized services; and increase the capacity of national health agencies in providing specialized rehabilitation services, based on recommended international standards, to victims of torture, including their family members, specifically in the field of mental health.

Within the framework of the project, a survey is carried out to find out the awareness of employers about gender equality, attitudes to the issue and implementation of gender equality legislation in the private sector; to receive an overview of the guidelines, methods and measures used in the private sector of the EU member states to implement the principle of equal treatment of women and men and to promote gender equality; to draw up guidelines for the private sector workers in Estonia, inter alia for drafting the basic principles of wage calculation and criteria of work evaluation to eliminate the wage gap between women and men; to increase the private sector awareness of the relevant legislation and to improve their knowledge and skills in using the means and methods for promoting gender equality, and to create a network of private sector employers and interest groups to mediate information, experience and best practices on promoting gender equality.

Speaking on behalf of 10 delegations, one speaker noted that the format achieved several results: (a) a clear understanding of the resource plan, including the expected contributions and resources used; (b) a more transparent linkage between resources and management results from the strategic plans, as well as a streamlining of results frameworks; (c) more transparent information on the use of all sources of income, core and non-core, for each costs category and functional cluster; (d) improved information on actual expenditures against projections; and (f) greater harmonization of the budgets, while respecting the specific business models of the agencies.

At its sixty-fourth session, the General Assembly requested the Scientific Committee to continue its work, including its important activities to increase knowledge of the levels, effects and risks of ionizing radiation from all sources; requested the Scientific Committee to continue at its next session the review of the important questions in the field of ionizing radiation and to report thereon to the Assembly at its sixty-fifth session; and resolved to take a decision on the membership of the Scientific Committee once a decision on resource allocation had been made and after the fifty-seventh session of the Scientific Committee but no later than the end of the sixty-fourth session of the General Assembly (resolution 64/85).

The main objective is to generate information and raise awareness about the interface of IP and CP and to identify international trends that Member States can use in devising development-oriented national policies.

By paragraph 7 of resolution 2021 (2011), the Security Council encouraged all States, particularly those in the region, to continue to raise awareness of the United Nations Group of Experts due diligence guidelines, in particular in the gold sector as part of broader efforts to mitigate the risk of further financing armed groups and criminal networks within FARDC.

The General Assembly should emphasize the importance of renewable energy for sustainable development and focus on action to raise awareness of the potential of renewable energy; to improve access and affordability particularly for the most vulnerable; to give incentives for research, development and deployment of renewable energy technologies and encourage appropriate policies at all levels to that end; and to encourage adequate sustained financing and consider innovative ways for further promotion of the renewable energy sector.
