With the overall goals of addressing development threats and taking note of the development priorities of the Secretary-General, the subprogrammes aim to achieve the following development results: (a) Governments of member States have more effective, inclusive and sustainable development policies for addressing development from a multidisciplinary perspective, to narrow development gaps and build resiliency; (b) global processes are shaped by a stronger coordinated regional voice and countries are supported in implementing international commitments; and (c) regional cooperation mechanisms and institutional frameworks are in place, supported and implemented to promote regional integration and inclusive development.

Recognizing that there are great risks of human trafficking in supply chains, the Luxor Implementation Guidelines provide practical measures that companies must take to minimize those risks, including publicly posting recruitment procedures throughout the company’s supply chain or chains, mapping the supply chain or chains so that there is a system to trace commodities to raw materials, having highest-risk suppliers become certified by external auditors or agree to unannounced audits against the company’s code of conduct, and developing training modules for all employees in the company’s supply chain or chains on the basics of human trafficking and how to recognize and report it.

UNESCO continued its efforts in assisting Member States formulate their national S&T policies: the reform of the Nigerian S&T system continued; the national science policies of Lebanon and Lesotho were completed; the S&T master plan of Mongolia is being finalized.

We firmly believe that the PBC is best placed to bring together the efforts of all stakeholders in order to devise appropriate strategies to assist post-conflict countries.

The Committee called for an action-oriented, forward-looking, consensus-based, balanced and inclusive outcome document from Rio+20, which would support global partnerships for sustainable development, reaffirming the principles of solidarity and equity, and ensuring support to reduce the vulnerabilities of developing countries to financial, fuel and climate crises.

The delegation expressing that view also considered that there should be greater coordination and interaction between the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and the Legal Subcommittee in order to develop binding legal instruments to define the responsibility of States in the use of nuclear power sources in outer space and to undertake research on the ways and means of optimizing or substituting for the use of nuclear energy in outer space activities.

We will continue to work with like-minded delegations, in constant dialogue with all Member States, in favour of a solution that can garner the widest possible political acceptance.

One delegation noted the need to tap into the potential of the Committee to strengthen the engagement and contribution from the region towards the development of international statistical standards through technical and expert discussions.

For maximum effectiveness, parallel United Nations focal points needed to be established within Resident Coordinator offices to contribute to the efforts of their parliamentary counterparts; ultimately, each parliament should adopt a clear action plan setting out the successive stages in the process; IPU had developed a model action plan for that purpose.

In addition, focal points should be appointed in every human rights mechanism in order to maintain regular communication between mechanisms and facilitate the elaboration of a plan of work which will be a reference for cooperation between international and regional human rights mechanisms.

(c) Collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data on children with disabilities and their specific needs and use these data to develop appropriate programmes and policies for them

This demands new strategies to ensure better protection for those who are particularly vulnerable to poverty such as women, children, older persons, internal migrant workers, persons with disabilities and, especially, ethnic minorities.

I call on Member States to lend their full support to the ongoing efforts of ECOWAS, the African Union and the United Nations to help the Government and the people of Mali to chart their own path, through dialogue, towards a peaceful and lasting resolution of the current crisis.

The State party should also take measures to ensure the separation of remand detainees and adopt a plan to reduce inter-prisoner violence.

We take a holistic view of the individual motion and control functions here and draw up consistent, end-to-end drive and automation solutions for you – keeping everything as easy as possible and as extensive as necessary.

The plan should clearly state, inter alia, the goals of the placement and the measures to achieve them.

SEPA, PBOC and CBRC have to work out a green credit system that can be commonly accepted, so that the greening lending campaign, energy efficiency and emission-based credit screening systems can become more effective.

Another participant raised the issue of the Security Council’s relationship with the press, citing complaints over new rules put in place owing to work on the United Nations capital master plan and the temporary relocation of the Council Chamber.

(m) (1) Proceeding with the plan and moving forward on specific activities at the regional and national levels simultaneously, offered the advantage that countries learned from the implementation of activities that have taken place and were thus able to design a more informed and realistic regional plan.

At its sixty-fourth session, the General Assembly adopted resolution 64/48, in which it decided to convene a United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty to meet for four consecutive weeks in 2012 to elaborate a legally binding instrument on the highest possible common international standards for the transfer of conventional arms; also decided that the Conference would be undertaken in an open and transparent manner, on the basis of consensus, to achieve a strong and robust treaty; and further decided to consider the remaining sessions of the Openended Working Group in 2010 and 2011 as a preparatory committee for the Conference.

A successful international assignment program requires companies to strike a balance between competitive compensation and cost control, always taking care to have effective policies and procedures for regulatory compliance.

Benchmarks and targets in the new action plan will be closely aligned with the SWAP standards, capitalizing on the opportunity these will present to ensure a strong plan and greater engagement by all parts of the organization for monitoring and reporting progress in promoting gender-equality results through programmes and operations.
