In the field of copyright, the process of reflection on the adaptation of the concept of “fair use” to the digital environment with a view to reasserting and promoting an equitable balance between the interests of rightholders and those of the public in the digital environment was launched by setting up an intersectoral task force, which held several meetings, and by initiating written consultations among the professional circles concerned, in the form of a questionnaire designed to take preliminary stock of the situation.

The process of reflection on adapting the concept of “fair use” to the digital environment has been started: an intersectoral team has been set up and the professional circles concerned are being consulted in writing.

The Secretary provided the information requested and noted that the legal arrangements put in place for organizing country visits were still being reviewed and that the secretariat was inclined to discontinue the practice of exchanges of letters for future visits.

The Registrar and the Deputy Registrar, when acting for the Registrar, are, pursuant to the exchange of correspondence mentioned in paragraph 49 above and to General Assembly resolution 90 (I), accorded the same privileges and immunities as heads of diplomatic missions in The Hague and, on journeys in third States, all the privileges, immunities and facilities granted to diplomatic envoys.

UNCTAD continued to enhance awareness among developing countries on ways to better utilize the GSP preferences and other preferential schemes through regular provision of information on a dedicated website, administrative support on certificate of origin, collection of data, publication of handbooks on the GSP schemes and newsletters, and technical cooperation and capacity building services.
