The majority of recommendations had been identified as constructive and target-oriented, and many of the recommended measures had already been incorporated in plans of action and were at different stages of implementation.

To ensure that capacity development and technical assistance to be provided to the Member States are effective, targeted and relevant, UNESCO will provide an analysis of the national educational needs and priorities, identify gaps and options for improvement in terms of data, policies, capacities, finance and donor coordination and propose remedial, supportive measures in response to national policies and priorities.

The provision for information technology services also accounts for centralized information technology services estimated at $240 per computer per year for projected holdings of computers; centralized data storage, retrieval and maintenance support, estimated at $85 per year per e-mail account for 9,000 accounts; and services associated with the deployment of maps, including a Geographic Information System (GIS) digital vector map development system and high-, medium- and low-definition satellite imagery to support the mission’s military and police patrol and support activities.

We are steady in our resolve and intend to come through the current industry crisis in better shape than ever, poised to resume the successful growth of the airline once economic conditions show signs of improvement.

Those measures include the provision of targeted assistance with the aim, as soon as circumstances allow, of promoting the self-sufficiency of families; addressing the legal situation of persons unaccounted for and the consequences for family members, including in terms of property administration, guardianship and parental authority; ensuring children receive special support and protection and, in particular, taking measures to reunite unaccompanied children with their families; ensuring that the needs of single heads of families are given special attention, taking into consideration the specific needs faced by women in such situations; ensuring that the families of persons unaccounted for benefit from support programmes in order to adapt to their situations and come to terms with the events; and psychological support, and, whenever necessary and feasible psychiatric treatment, to be provided to those in need.

From the replies received, the Working Group was encouraged to note that some Governments had carried out investigations into the allegations made and taken measures, including enacting new legislation, conducting legal reform, introducing policies and services, such as health-related services, to better protect and assist women, including women victims of violence, developing national plans of action, prosecuting and punishing perpetrators of violence, introducing targeted measures for the promotion of women’s rights, making efforts to guarantee the full enjoyment of human rights by women, including through gender-sensitive budgeting, and improving public awareness-raising activities to promote gender equality and the advancement of women in accordance with relevant international standards.

In countries with extensive underemployment, informal sectors, and/or high rates of poverty, we recommend targeted efforts to generate employment for poor households and vulnerable groups, utilizing lessons learned from recent policy innovations.

As the Financial Secretary had pledged to preserve employment, the Government being the majority shareholder of MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) should urge MTRCL to introduce fare concessions for people who had to work across districts.

Another minor interviewed alleged that he had been subjected to the “dry submarine” treatment and that he had been punched in the head and received blows all over his body to make him reveal the whereabouts of a stolen object as well as to confess to other offences that he claimed not to have committed.

Katanga’s malaria programme includes vector control spraying for nearly ten thousand households, while both operations’ programmes include spraying of homes, plants, mines, offices and local government offices.

(b) Continue to address the issue of suicidal behaviour among adolescents across the State party, including by studying the root causes of this problem in order to provide targeted preventive measures.

Furthermore, in order to achieve an efficient and targeted implementation of the plan of action on victim assistance and to match cooperation and assistance successfully, greater efforts were needed at the national level to understand the scale of the problem and the real state of implementation on the ground.

It also noted that several such programmes were in operation in the region, including targeted income transfer schemes, universal health care, pensions for the elderly, and support for people with disabilities and people living with HIV and AIDS.

To avoid a major imbalance between an increasing demand for assistance on the one hand and limited resources on the other, the Program will strive to ensure that its activities are properly targeted, that they achieve the desired impact, and that they are delivered as efficiently as possible.

From this point of view, some people's worries that the Bill would go against the presumption of innocence in the common law and affect the defendants' rights to get a fair trial warrant the Government's attention.

It should also examine ways to engage more creatively with the Government of Sierra Leone, other stakeholders and UNIPSIL, including through the employment of targeted initiatives.
