During the first half of 2008, the Ministry allocated a budget of 52.2 million NIS ($14 million) towards the development of intra-municipal infrastructure, from which 7.8 million NIS ($2.1 million) for Bedouin localities in the Negev, 11.8 million NIS ($3.19 million) for Bedouin localities in the North, 6.1 million NIS ($1.64 million) for the Druze and Circassian localities and 26.4 million NIS ($7.13 million) for Arab localities.

I would like to make three points in reaction to High Representative Inzko’s report (see S/2012/307).

At the outset, I would like to thank Mr. Valentin Inzko, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, for presenting the forty-first report on the implementation of the Peace Agreement on Bosnia and Herzegovina (see S/2012/307).

We thank Mr. Valentin Inzko, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, for his introduction to the Council of the report on developments in that country (S/2010/235, annex, enclosure).

I would like to join other speakers in welcoming High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina and European Union Special Representative Valentin Inzko back to the Council and to reiterate the European Union’s full support for his Office and his work.

Uzbekistan intends to bring a qualitative improvement in the living conditions and wellbeing of the rural population since almost half of the Uzbek people live in rural areas and as paying attention to life in rural areas was in line with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Five consultative meetings of civil society groups and professional NGOs were held: two in Paris, France (February and April 2002); a regional symposium, “Informatica 2002: Latin American and the Caribbean Symposium on Education, Science and Culture in the Knowledge Society” in Havana, Cuba (February 2002); a regional consultation with representatives of non-governmental organizations held in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the Summit in Bamako, Mali (May 2002) on the role of civil society in the preparation of and participation in the Summit; and a European regional preconference meeting organized in collaboration with the German National Commission for UNESCO in Mainz, Germany (June 2002) on “Information Cultures and Information Interests”.

Under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure, I invite His Excellency Mr. Valentin Inzko, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, to participate in this meeting.
