Delegates further emphasized UNESCO’s unique mandate allowing for intersectorality, integration and synergy among all its Major Programmes, and they called for a much larger number of intersectoral programmes.

Although in most countries climate change education is addressed as part of environmental education, an increasing number of countries have started to introduce climate change issues across disciplines.

The incumbent of the Senior Programme Officer post is also responsible for initiating/coordinating the development of policies, procedures, proposals, position/background papers, reports, guidance, tools and speeches on cross-cutting issues in the areas of management, programme management and reform/change management, and follows up to ensure the effective implementation of the resulting directives and guidelines.
