At the 42nd meeting, on 29 July, the observer for Maldives, on behalf of Australia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Cuba, Dominica, Fiji, Haiti, India, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Maldives, the Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, New Zealand, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Samoa, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uruguay and Vanuatu, introduced a draft resolution entitled “Review of United Nations support for small island developing States” (E/2009/L.35).

Subsequently, Albania, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Botswana, Bulgaria, Canada, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Palestine, Paraguay, Panama, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Tunisia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland joined the sponsors.

The National Anti-Coup Front, led by the former security sector reform (SSR) adviser to late President Malam Bacai Sanhá and leader of the Solidarity and Labour Party, Iancuba Djola N’Djai, has condemned the coup and called for, first, the immediate restoration of constitutional order and the release of all detainees; second, the end of the persecution of Government leaders and looting of public property; third, the reinstatement of the PAIGC Government elected in the 2008 elections; fourth, the deployment of a United Nations-mandated stabilization force to provide security to State institutions and to facilitate the implementation of the SSR programme; fifthly, the fight against impunity and drug trafficking; sixth, the imposition of individual sanctions on the coup leaders and their prosecution; and seventh, the conclusion of the electoral process.

In Africa CAP is seen by most ozone officers interviewed as either supporting the work of other agencies (mostly UNDP), Secretariats and bilateral agencies (GTZ, France, Canada, Japan) or conducting joint activities in a large number of countries, for example with UNDP (Burundi, Cape Verde, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, etc); UNIDO (Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Uganda, etc); GTZ (Botswana, Ethiopia, Gambia, Mauritius, etc).

The Executive Board will also have before it for discussion 17 draft country programme documents: Cape Verde (draft common country programme document), Central African Republic, Chad, Gambia, Malawi and Mozambique in the Africa region; Algeria and Yemen in the Arab States region; Iran (Islamic Republic of), Myanmar, Papua New Guinea (draft common country programme document), Thailand and Viet Nam (draft common country programme document) in the Asia and the Pacific region; and Brazil, Dominican Republic, Panama and Peru in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Being one of the most representative Buddhist complexes in Central Asia, it is on the list of potential sites to be nominated to the World Heritage List by Tajikistan, which is non-represented on the List at present.

Sauer-Danfoss strongly recommends that the OEM perform a system-level Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Assistance was provided upon request on international trade issues to Bhutan, Botswana, Cape Verde, Comoros, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mozambique, Rwanda and the Syrian Arab Republic.

At the same meeting, statements were made by the representatives of Jamaica (on behalf of the Group of 77 and China), Spain (on behalf of the European Union), Grenada (on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States), Tuvalu (on behalf of the Pacific small island developing States), Australia, the United States of America, China, Antigua and Barbuda, Guatemala, Cape Verde, Japan, Mauritius, India, Tuvalu, Italy, Barbados, Maldives, Solomon Islands, the United Republic of Tanzania, Samoa, Fiji and Mexico.

Consequential amendments are also made to Part 1 of the Schedule to the Intercountry Adoption (Contracting States) Order (Cap. 290 sub. leg. C) to add Cape Verde and Togo to the list of Contracting States so that the Convention applies to an adoption between Hong Kong and either of those two states in relation to an application made pursuant to the Convention.

The Commission held a dialogue with the panellists, in which the delegations of the following countries participated: China, Indonesia, Ghana, Cameroon, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, India, Greece, Denmark, Japan, South Africa, Portugal, Mexico, Qatar, Israel, the Central African Republic, Turkey, Pakistan, Uganda, the Republic of Korea, Burundi, Morocco, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Colombia, Cape Verde, Thailand, Botswana, Spain and Jordan.

The Committee is further concerned about reports that some children are placed in Buddhist monasteries and converted to Buddhism without their parents’ knowledge or consent and that the Government seeks to induce members of the Naga ethnic group, including children, in Sagaing Division to convert to Buddhism.

(f) Other supplies, services and equipment ($10,693,500, or 53.3 per cent): resulting mainly from the deployment of chartered aircraft and vessels to transport equipment, assets and supplies from the United Nations Logistics Base at Brindisi, Italy, and from Miami, Florida, United States of America, to Haiti following the earthquake; the inadvertent recording of expenditures related to special measures for United Nations Volunteers, as well as independent contractors; the replenishment costs of equipment and supplies shipped from the strategic deployment stocks in the United Nations Logistics Base to the Mission after the earthquake; and miscellaneous earthquake-related claims.

In consequence of the checkered fortunes of the Talmud, manuscripts of it are extremely rare; and the Babylonian Talmud is found entire only in a Munich codex (Hebrew MS. No. 95), completed in 1369, while a Florentine manuscript containing several treatises of the fourth and fifth orders dates from the year 1176.

This Agreement represents the understanding of the Government of Cape Verde (the “Country”) and the Executive Committee with respect to the reduction of controlled use of the ozone-depleting substances (ODS) set out in Appendix 1-A (“The Substances”) to a sustained level of 0.16 ODP tonnes by 1 January 2020 in compliance with Montreal Protocol schedules, with the understanding that this figure is to be revised one single time, once the baseline consumption for compliance has been established based on Article 7 data , with the funding to be adjusted accordingly, as per decision 60/44.

Tim Shriver, Special Olympics International Chairman and CEO, and Healthy Athletes partner Tom Golisano joined "1370 Connection”, a radio talk show that airs on the National Public Radio affiliate in up-state New York, to talk about health care and other issues regarding people with intellectual disabilities.

The ability to integrate Series 45 with PVG and PLUS+1™ solutions offers an infinite number of control combinations and gives the customer the ability to tune them to fit the customer’s specific needs.

Sustained UNV efforts resulted in the drafting and/or the adoption of legislative frameworks or policies in support of volunteerism and the establishment or implementation of national volunteerism laws, schemes, programmes, networks or strategies in 33 countries, including in Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia), Asia and the Pacific (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam), the Commonwealth of Independent States (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine) and Latin America and the Caribbean (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru), thus contributing to the strengthening of national voluntary sector capacity.

FLORENCE, Italy, 18 April 2012 – The famine in the Horn of Africa and the unfolding crisis in the Sahel have sparked renewed debate on the underlying causes of such disasters, the tipping points and solutions.
