On 14 July, in a meeting of the funding board of the Stabilization and Recover Funding facility co-chaired by Prime Minister Muzito, four projects were recommended for approval for funding by the Peacebuilding Fund, focusing on enhancing the capacity of the provincial technical commission for pacification and reconciliation and the local conciliation committees in working on mitigating conflicts linked to the return of refugees and internally displaced persons in North Kivu, and in support of the extension of State authority, emergency road rehabilitation and the deployment of police.

The mandate was further expanded under Council resolutions 1445 (2002), 1468 (2003) and 1484 (2003) to include facilitating the establishment of the Ituri Pacification Commission and supporting the Commission’s work, which was successfully completed in 2004.

Three formed police units are deployed in Monrovia; one in Buchanan; one in Zwedru; one in Gbargna; and one in Voinjama.

The Government of Liberia and its partners, including the Peacebuilding Commission, have agreed that the next two hubs will be established in Harper, Maryland County, and Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

From this angle, we can better understand why successive Japanese Prime Ministers, from Yasuhiro NAKASONE, Ryutaro HASHIMOTO to the incumbent Junichiro KOIZUMI have exhausted every possible means to homage to the Yasukuni Shrine, turned the ceremony of offering sacrifices to Hideki TOJO into a normal practice, developed its Self-Defence Force (SDF) into an army by amending its constitution, and dispatched troops overseas under the pretext of keeping peace.

On 22 May, the Council returned to Liberia to visit the PTP refugee camp located in Zwedru, close to the Ivorian border, where we were briefed by the Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission and by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on the Ivorian refugee situation in the eastern part of Liberia.

In his report, the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator highlighted the fact that the ongoing complex humanitarian emergency in Somalia had been exacerbated by intense and prolonged fighting, civil insecurity, continued displacement and food insecurity caused by poor rains.

It seems that Japan's attitude toward history has been positive, but in reality, all is just "window-dressing". What Japan has been doing over the past 10 years between the apologies of its two Prime Ministers, or, to be precise, what Japan has been doing since the end of World War II, such as the doctoring of its history of aggression, the paying of tribute at the Yasukuni Shrine, military expansion and its unlawful occupation of China's Diaoyutai Islands and East China Sea waters and Korea's Dokdo, are all evidence of the discrepancy between its words and deeds.

The period between the councils of Nicæa (325) and Chalcedon (451) was the golden age of the Nicene fathers (including Eusebius of Cæsarea, the first major church historian) the Alexandrians (most notably Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria), the Cappadocians (Basil the Great, Gregory of Nazianzus, and Gregory of Nyssa), and the Antiochenes (John Chrysostom and Theodore of Mopsuestia).
