But in the short to medium term, it is likely to reduce the ability of developing countries and poor people to close this gap by getting the textbooks, scientific information and computer software they need at affordable cost.

Across the regions, children express strong concern at the incidence of violence; they inspire a deep sense of urgency, and their views and recommendations help to refine the effectiveness of actions taken, including by helping to improve understanding of the hidden face of violence, raise awareness and promote advocacy on positive initiatives, and support the development of child-sensitive policies and mechanisms.

Resolution 1325 (2000) and its follow-up resolution 1889 (2009) are considered by Uganda’s Government to be landmark resolutions not only because of our strong belief in the important role that women play during and after conflict, but also because, from experience, we recognize women’s undeniably positive role in conflict prevention and mediation processes.
