The estimate of $2,443,000 would cover requirements that are centrally administered by the Executive Office on behalf of both DPKO and DFS for the maintenance and repair of information technology equipment based on the standard service level agreement established by OICT, in the amounts of $993,600 (DPKO) and $1,008,700 (DFS), as well as the acquisition of standard information technology equipment, which includes new and replacement desktop and laptop computers and network printers in the amounts of $51,000 (DPKO) and $389,700 (DFS).

The amount of $2,168,300 is proposed to provide for recurring requirements, centrally administered by the Executive Office on behalf of both DPKO and DFS, for the maintenance and repair of information technology equipment based on the standard service-level agreement established by the Office of Information and Communications Technology, in the amounts of $757,500 and $657,000 for DPKO and DFS, respectively; the acquisition of standard information technology equipment, including new and replacement desktop computers, laptop computers and network printers, for both Departments ($387,300); and the support account share ($366,500) of central information technology infrastructure costs (information storage and backup, application hosting, departmental servers and other services) as derived from past expenditure patterns.

Other initiatives included an ongoing development of the databases in order to offer a wider range of services for National Commissions and their partners, the inclusion of communication-related topics at training seminars (Bangkok, Riga, Dar es Salaam cluster), the distribution of the CD-ROM for National Commissions, a new brochure on “Skills for Handling the TV Media” and the creation of a website template for National Commissions, the publication of the fourth and fifth editions of the newsletter NCP Synergy.

Mission strategic management initiatives aim to extend the functionality of the existing strategic management system (based on dashboards, Google maps and narrative text) to cover the following areas: civil affairs; rule of law and security institutions; disarmament, demobilization and reintegration; military affairs; disposed assets; medical information; and increased logistics information and information from partners in field operations (human rights, humanitarian response and political affairs).

Major activities promoting the use of ICT in education in the last two years are as follows: (a) Textbooks and education materials for primary and secondary education uploaded in a dynamic website which includes 50 Bangla version books, 26 English version secondary education textbooks and 33 primary education textbooks; (b) Training of teacher trainers from the teacher training colleges on developing digital content to facilitate ICT-based teaching-learning processes in class; (c) Computer training for 6,500 secondary schoolteachers; (d) The supply of laptop computers and multimedia projectors to 20,500 schools and madrasas; (e) The launch of 17 mobile computer labs to orient students living in remote locations; (f) Establishing modern computer labs in 20 schools, 35 madrasas, and 20 teacher training colleges; (g) Establishing ICT training and resource centres in 128upazila. 58.

Three of the four posts would be established through the reassignment of an existing post of Property Control and Inventory Officer (P-4) from the Property Management Section and the reassignment of an existing post of Regional Coordinator (P-3) and an existing post of Billing Assistant (Field Service) from the existing Communications and Information Technology Section.
