Other tangible steps included the decision to renounce enrichment and reprocessing capabilities and the recent adoption of a national policy on the evaluation and potential development of peaceful nuclear energy.

A master standard is made at a concentration of 0.5% (5000 ppm) and portions of this standard are then diluted with the oxide base to create a range of standards.

However, in cases where the concentration of heavy metals exceeds the normal range found in cements made without waste, leaching tests on mortar and/or concrete should be conducted (GTZ/Holcim, 2006).

They are: measurements of CTC concentrations in the atmosphere, largely in the lower atmosphere (troposphere) with some supporting measurements in the upper atmosphere (lower stratosphere); reports on national CTC consumption provided under Article 7 of the Montreal Protocol, and; reports of 2 industrial production and use, available from industry sources and also contained in project data provided to the Secretariat by countries and implementing agencies.

Once deposited in water, mercury bio-accumulates in the aquatic food chain, which may lead to high concentrations in fish, shellfish, and marine mammals.

In that regard, the international community must strongly condemn North Korea’s clear violation of Security Council resolutions 1718 (2006) and 1874 (2009) and urge it to fully comply with other relevant Council resolutions, especially by abandoning all of its nuclear programmes, including its uranium enrichment programme, in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.
