Such support included effective ocean governance, which was a global issue that required the efforts of governments in the Asia-Pacific region, and in distant nations dependent on fishing, to better regulate fishing and help combat illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.

Moreover, it was necessary to revise the design of the retaining walls to suit the actual ground profile and to overcome the unexpected poor sub-soil conditions, so as to meet current design and safety standards.

While bottom-set longlines may snag and damage benthic epifauna and irregular objects on the bottom, longline fisheries do offer the potential to conduct fishing without severe habitat damage and to do so in a relatively energy-conscious manner.

This form of construction is carried out in existing or formed land to provide the necessary construction access from the surface – should the tunnel alignment cross over seabed, reclamation will be required to first form the land through which the diaphragm walls need to be constructed.

However, there are concerns over the reprovisioning of the affected facilities (such as David Trench Rehabilitation Centre, Kennedy Town Swimming Pool, Centre Street Market West Block and open spaces); the possible adverse effect of ventilation shafts to the residents at Hill Road and to students and residents at Bonham Road; the proposed locations of station entrances and the preservation of tree walls at Forbes Street etc.

It was also suggested that FAO should undertake technical work in the following five priority areas to assist States and RFMOs implement resolutions 61/105 and 64/72 and the FAO Guidelines: (i) improving and expanding application of the criteria for the identification of VMEs beyond corals, sponges, seamounts and hydrothermal vents; (ii) developing guidance on impact mitigation measures and best practices for developing and applying encounter protocols relevant to VMEs, particularly by RFMOs; (iii) developing guidance on what and how information should be collected to implement measures for managing fishery impacts on VMEs; (iv) defining certain terms that could clarify implementation of the FAO Guidelines; and (v) developing guidance on best practices for conducting assessments.

In paragraph 83 (a) of resolution 61/105, the General Assembly called upon RFMO/As to assess, on the basis of the best available scientific information, whether individual bottom fishing activities would have significant adverse impacts on VMEs, and to ensure that activities that would have significant adverse impacts on these ecosystems were managed to prevent such impacts, or not authorized to proceed.

In addition, attention should be paid to the requirements for wind loads, horizontal imposed loads specified in Table 3 of Regulation 17(3) of the B(C)R on curtain wall when there is no protective barrier provided, protection of openings, protection against corrosion and the quality of materials.

The Observer from the IFU noted that issues surrounding the establishment of maximum limits for pesticide residues for processed products in the General Standard for Fruit Juices and Nectars, as indicated in Section 1.2.4, could be addressed by the Committee on Pesticide Residues as a general issue since the Committee on Processed Fruits and Vegetables excluded fruit juices and related products from its terms of reference.
