Mercury is traded globally and is used in products and chlor-alkali plants; it is emitted from coal-fired power plants, incinerators, cement kilns and contaminated sites.

Ukraine also indicated that the USA had recently agreed to purchase another incinerator for the Pavlograd Chemical Plant that could be used for the destruction of antipersonnel mines.

Mission strategic management initiatives aim to extend the functionality of the existing strategic management system (based on dashboards, Google maps and narrative text) to cover the following areas: civil affairs; rule of law and security institutions; disarmament, demobilization and reintegration; military affairs; disposed assets; medical information; and increased logistics information and information from partners in field operations (human rights, humanitarian response and political affairs).

Three of the four posts would be established through the reassignment of an existing post of Property Control and Inventory Officer (P-4) from the Property Management Section and the reassignment of an existing post of Regional Coordinator (P-3) and an existing post of Billing Assistant (Field Service) from the existing Communications and Information Technology Section.

The range of support services for the 2012/13 period will focus on the efficient movement of passengers, including civilian staff, military and police personnel, contingent-owned and United Nations-owned equipment and related cargo via road; increasing reliance on green and clean technology such as solarpowered generators, solar water pumps, wastewater plants, incinerators and compactors; improving the management of non-expendable assets; ensuring compliance with minimum operating security standards and minimum operating residential security standards; and the implementation of conduct and discipline and HIV/AIDS programmes.
