Members of the Bureau noted that environmental management of water resources remains a major challenge, given the potential impact of global changes on river basins and stressed the need to maintain ecohydrology as a priority in present and future IHP activities.

A second direction for new initiatives will probably be found in outreach for raising awareness among the general public on the potential of our planet for future generations and to encourage young people to learn more about our home planet, its powers, its beauty and its challenges.

This committee met during the biennium and resolved to set up a joint project on river basin management to demonstrate how interdisciplinary research can and should be pursued to address complex environmental issues.

The Ministers in order to promote the human rights of women expressed their resolve to take appropriate measures at the national, regional and international levels to improve the quality of life and achieve gender equality and empowerment of women, bearing in mind the inherent potential of women, through inter alia adopting proper socio- economic strategies and programmes and provisions of government services to all women particularly women with disabilities and women in rural areas, including access to health, education and justice services and strengthening family well-being.

Based on the above and given that the registered capital of JYTP will be used for funding of its capital outlay and the contribution of the registered capital is in proportion to the shareholders’ respective equity interest in JYTP, we consider that the capital contribution to be borne by the Group is fair and reasonable and in the interests of the Company and the Independent Shareholders as a whole.

By adopting this Handbook as the objective basis of emission estimation, and the use of available local emission factors and data, the Mid-term Review provided a scientifically sound estimation on the emissions of various pollutants in the Region, having regard to findings of studies and experience gained from emission estimation in other areas.
