Several members questioned the need for a new mechanism to disseminate lessonslearned,pointing out that other mechanisms already existed for that purpose.

Another member asked that the Committee recommend that the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer include a special focus on the African Region in the evaluation of methyl bromide projects, highlighting appropriate phase-out strategies and lessonslearned from completed projects.

Governing Council members also stated that, given the financial and human resource constraints, UNAPCAEM should be practical in its project development, make better use of existing resources and draw upon the resources and expertise of other regional institutions and national designated institutes, for example, by inviting national designated institutes to prepare and present project concept notes on the basis of their respective areas of expertise.

Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that lessons learnt from the previous construction project are fully incorporated into the new project approach.

With the mission to promoting gender equality, development and peace, the organization aims to monitor and lobby for the inclusion of Asian-Pacific women’s perspectives in international documents and processes; promote gender mainstreaming in all decision-making structures; disseminate information on good practices and lessons learned in advancing the status of women; build capacity in communication technologies, media strategies and lobbying; enhance women’s leadership and decision-making in peacemaking; advocate to eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women; encourage sustainable rights-based development; and strive for economic justice for women.
