In the Russian Federation, work is being carried out to define the parameters of the space debris model (space debris prediction analysis) more precisely using compiled experimental data, to forecast man-made pollution of near-Earth space by establishing possible future scenarios of such pollution during the period 2025-2030, and in the longer term up to 2110, and to compare the results obtained with the corresponding results obtained by foreign models.

It could play a major role in forging cooperation between the United Nations and political parties not only in Asia, but also in Latin America and Africa by compiling and communicating to the United Nations the views of the peoples of those regions as expressed in political discussions at the local, national and regional levels and by helping political parties in emerging democracies to build their law-making and oversight capacities in areas in which the United Nations provided international cooperation.

The Working Group further agreed that intersessional work to be carried out in the period 2012-2013 could include workshops held under the auspices of the Action Team that would bring together experts on various aspects of the draft recommendations made by the Action Team (see A/AC.105/C.1/L.317).

(c) The Thai chiller programme with co-financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Mexican chiller project with co-funding from a local financing institution and the recently expanded chiller replacement demonstration programmes have generated experiences and lessons learned on how the Multilateral Fund has worked with other financing institutions (multilateral like GEF, bilateral like the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and local banks), how the funding schemes were put together, how they complemented each other in their mandates, what barriers were encountered and how they were overcome, how policy changes like the introduction of the Resource Allocation Framework in the GEF may have affected access to funding, and how the operating procedures and administrative arrangements of different organizations have impacted on the success, cost and timing of mobilizing co-funding.
