At the invitation of the Government of Mozambique, the Director-General’s Consultation on the Draft Programme and Budget for 2006-2007 (33 C/5) was held in Maputo from Friday 14 to Tuesday 18 May 2004, with the invaluable logistic support provided by the Mozambique National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Office in Maputo.

At its resumed sixty-fourth session, the General Assembly decided that the two-day high-level review to assess progress made in addressing the vulnerabilities of small island developing States through the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States would be held, pursuant to paragraphs 2 and 3 of Assembly resolution 64/199, on Friday, 24 September and Saturday, 25 September 2010 (decision 64/555).

By its resolution 57/301 of 13 March 2003, the General Assembly decided that the general debate should open on the Tuesday following the opening of the regular session of the General Assembly and should be held without interruption over a period of nine working days; however, for the sixty-fifth session, in the light of resolution 64/184 of 21 December 2009 and decision 64/555 of 15 April 2010, the general debate will be held from Thursday, 23 September, to Saturday, 25 September, and from Monday, 27 September, to Thursday, 30 September 2010.

The General Committee may wish to bring to the attention of the General Assembly that, pursuant to resolution 57/301 and decision 64/555, the general debate for the sixty-fifth session shall begin at 9 a.m.on Thursday, 23September and continue to Saturday, 25 September and from Monday, 27 September to Thursday, 30 September 2010; that the meetings for the general debate onFriday,24 September will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the meetings on Saturday, 25 September will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and that these arrangements shall in no way create a precedent for future sessions.
