A visible development is the steady increase in the number of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Pending a full evaluation of the experience gained with and the results attained by the various CCT projects carried out during the 31 C/5 and 32 C/5, the Director-General recommends to continue during the 33 C/5 only a limited number of ongoing CCT projects which have demonstrably shown effectiveness and results in particular at the field level as well as the use of innovative modalities and approaches, but not to add new CCT projects.

These include, but are not limited to, talented young voices giving expression, through word and image, to their expectations of the Organization and those who lead its Member States; scholars, students and teachers who see in their work a discernible United Nations “impact”; college students who adapt the dynamism of the General Assembly’s possibilities to a “Global Model United Nations” that is entirely their own; non-governmental organizations and individuals who breathe new life into long-debated topics with the vigour of a vaster geographical base and greater opportunities for participation; Governments, research institutions and the media, which seek, and can now find, the recorded positions of Member States on key issues in readily accessible form; and the creative community, which sees in matters vital to the Organization’s agenda the chance to reach its audiences in a fashion that informs as it entertains.

The representative of Japan recalled that a decision by the Sixteenth Meeting of the Parties had requested the Executive Committee to consider “(a) Funding additional demonstration projects to help demonstrate the value of replacement of CFC-based chillers, pursuant to relevant decisions of the Executive Committee; (b) Funding actions to increase awareness of users in countries operating under paragraph 1 of Article 5, of the impending phase-out and options that may be available for dealing with their chillers and to assist Governments and decision makers; (c) Requesting those countries preparing or implementing refrigerant management plans to consider developing measures for the effective use of the ozone-depleting substances recovered from the chillers to meet servicing needs in the sector.

The actual condition of affairs can scarcely be formulated in these terms, however, since the divergencies consist, for the most part, of mere variants in certain sentences, or in the fact that there were different authors and transmitters of them; and although many of these deviations are cited by R. Jonah and R. Jose, who lived and taught contemporaneously at Tiberias, this fact scarcely justifies the assumption that there were two different Talmudim, one taught by Jonah and the other by Jose; it will nevertheless be evident, from the statements cited above, that the Talmud existed in some definite form throughout the amoraic period, and that, furthermore, its final redaction was preceded by other revisions.

From the Group’s perspective, Transit Interarmées played a negative role in the enforcement of the embargo because Ivorian customs had no control over its import of equipment for the Ministry of Defence, and the Group was already aware that, at a minimum, vehicles (see annex VIII of S/2011/272), telecommunication and military material were being imported through Transit Interarmées for military use, thus representing a clear breach of the sanctions regime.

Moreover, we call on the Security Council and the relevant United Nations bodies, especially the Human Rights Council, to take firm measures to put a stop to random attacks against civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as to lift the unjust siege imposed by the Israeli authorities for many years on Gaza, which is a form of collective punishment imposed on the residents of the occupied Palestinian territories in a manner that takes no account of proportionality or differentiation and clearly violates the principles of international humanitarian law.

This results in a message alert on the display which is only reset when the measured value returns to within the current bandwidth.

In this connection, the Advisory Committee was provided with a table (see table VIII.8) showing the lease expiry, estimated annual rental costs and square footage of all United Nations leased properties, distinguishing between longterm leases concluded by the Facilities Management Service, capital master plan swing spaces, Facilities Management Service leases in the capital master plan swing spaces and properties leased by Facilities Management Service for the Umoja project.

Global analysis undertaken by the World Resources Institute showed that more than one quarter of the world’s active mines and exploration sites overlap with or are within a 10-kilometre radius of a strictly protected area; nearly one third of all active mines and exploration sites are located within areas of intact ecosystems of high conservation value; almost one third of all active mines are located in stressed watersheds; nearly one fifth of active mines and exploration sites are in areas of high or very high seismic hazard; and more than one third are in areas that may be predisposed to water quality problems.

If the display shows E30 continuously, there is a loose connection causing the display and board to repeatedly lose and regain communication.

But with the IGEL devices we simply connect two display screens to the thin client with a Y-cable and it can run both applications simultaneously, saving us time and power.

The Delegation of Cuba, supported by several delegations, drew the attention of the Commission to the fact that data and scientific analysis by FAO/WHO showed that the use of the LPS was safe, therefore proposed to lift the restriction without adding a footnote, however other delegations were of the view that an addition to the footnote was necessary.

The voluntary commitments made and the recommendations accepted demonstrated Chile’s firm commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights.

They reiterated their call for the peaceful resolution of the Somali conflict as the only way to a durable peace and genuine reconciliation and called upon all parties that had not yet joined the political process to do so, and urged the Somali stakeholders to take expeditious action and show progress in the accomplishment of the remaining tasks of the transitional period including the drafting and approval of the Constitution as well as expanding the authority of the state, promoting the reconciliation process and improving the livelihood of the population by providing essential services.

The delegation was unable to locate any formal record of this or any other use of restraint, although the practice was visible.

To conclude, he observed that a recent assessment of his country’s policy to increase the minimum wage had shown encouraging results in terms of increasing productivity, boosting the purchasing power of workers and reducing inequality.

These include the independent study commissioned by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs; the operational concept and the lessons learned note circulated by DPKO; and the regular inclusion of protection of civilians tasks in the mandates of United Nations peacekeeping operations; the more consistent and systemic consideration of protection of civilians issues in the Secretary-General’s reports; the significant inclusion of several paragraphs on the protection of civilians in the 2010 recommendations of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (see A/64/19), including the development of a strategic framework for mission-wide protection strategies; the elaboration of protection of civilians training modules; and an assessment of the resource requirements for implementing protection mandates.

An analysis of national reports, regional reviews and proceedings of the pre-conference thematic events showed that the least developed countries had made significant progress in many areas, particularly in economic growth, increases in capital formation, reduction of interest rates and narrowing fiscal deficits, and progress in the realization of some Millennium Development Goals.

It recognized that the Asia-Pacific region remained home to almost two thirds of the world’s poor and that there were visible disparities between rural and urban areas, between different social and ethnic groups, and between regions within countries.

The Commission noted that the evaluation, while acknowledging various positive impacts on the venue countries, had indicated that in terms of the level of participation, co-hosting arrangements had not had a positive impact with the exception of a few cases.
