The overall objective of the project is to ensure that small islands in the Caribbean, Pacific and AIMS regions, and especially young people, develop local capacity and share-wise practices in sustainable development.

Furthermore, while one of the goals of the Working Group on Knowledge Management (formerly known as the Secretariat Task Force on Knowledge Sharing) is to help build an effective collaborative environment in which United Nations personnel and their stakeholders capture, share and own the substantive knowledge relevant to their expertise (see A/62/793, table 1), this group has not developed a common definition of lessons learned at the Secretariat level.
