Our question remains: how long will the Council continue to be paralysed, its will held hostage, failing in the face of Israeli settlement activity to shoulder its responsibilities under Article XXIV of the Charter of the Nations?

Faced with the gravity of the recommendations and the discussions of the Levy committee, allow me to ask, once again, are there any steps that members intend to take in the Council to recall the provisions of international law and the resolutions of the Council and the General Assembly on the illegitimacy of settler activities, or will the Council remain paralysed with its will held hostage?

Nevertheless, such reforms would not come in the form of suspiciously political draft resolutions sponsored by certain Member States in order to blackmail others, using the United Nations as a platform, nor by conducting a media, political and diplomatic war against the Syrian Arab Republic, or interfering in its internal affairs.

Unfortunately, every year a small number of countries hijacked the work of the Committee to force through their political objectives, which hindered the Committee from achieving the goals set out in its work on human rights.

Resuscitated by the continued existence of safe havens in the region, they continue to hold Afghanistan hostage, killing our people, destroying the country and threatening our gains, freedom and way of life.

This tragedy reminds us that we cannot let our world and our youth be held hostage by those who occupy the extremes of the political spectrum.

This responsibility includes designing, implementing and maintaining internal control relevant to the preparation and the true and fair presentation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error; selecting and applying appropriate accounting policies; and making accounting estimates that are reasonable in the circumstances.

Specific activities that assisted countries in relation to terrorism targeted at food products included: (a) capacity-building (training courses, projects) concerning food safety, animal and plant health, including promotion of risk analyses and developing base-level capacity to ensure national ability to monitor, diagnose, report and respond to pest and disease outbreaks; (b) the standard setting work of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the International Plant Protection Convention; (c) the establishment of a Food Chain Crisis Management Framework for prevention, early warning, preparedness and response to food chain crises caused by transboundary animal and plant pests and diseases, food safety threats and emergencies, as well as nuclear and radiological threats and emergencies; and the organization of international forums to discuss biological risk management in relation to food and agriculture.

That is also the case for the crucial goals of disarmament and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, which remain hostage to the policy of double standards, such as discriminatory practices and non-compliance with commitments made, in particular by certain nuclear Powers.
