The Meeting took note of the intention of the Authority to convene a workshop to further a proposal aimed at developing a regional environmental management plan for the Clarion-Clipperton Zone in the Central Pacific, which was the prime area of interest for polymetallic nodules.

The Branch provided focused assistance to strengthen international cooperation in criminal matters related to counter-terrorism through a number of workshops, including a workshop on strengthening international cooperation in criminal matters related to terrorism among and with the Member States of ECOWAS, held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, on 15-17 June 2009, which was attended by participants from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, the Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
