At its sixty-fifth session, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to the Assembly at its sixty-sixth session concrete and tailored proposals on the human rights treaty bodies, including the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, building on the work of the Secretary-General pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 9/8 of 24 September 2008 and of the treaty bodies in this regard, to improve their effectiveness and to identify efficiencies in their working methods and resource requirements in order better to manage their workloads, bearing in mind budgetary constraints and taking account of the varying burdens on each treaty body (resolution 65/200).

To examine the relevant ordinances and subsidiary legislation concerning the provision of legal aid services in order to identify issues for the purpose of review and to make recommendations where appropriate.

19. We reaffirm the need for the Government of the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to resume negotiations in accordance with the principles and the objectives of the United Nations Charter and the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly, in order to find, as soon as possible, a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute relating to “the Question of the Malvinas Islands”, which seriously damages the economic capacities of the Argentine Republic and the need for both parties to refrain from taking decisions that would imply introducing unilateral modifications in the situation while the Islands are going through the process recommended by the General Assembly.

Article IV of the GPA, “Sanctions and Measures”, acknowledges the parties have agreed “(a) to endorse the (March 2007) resolution on sanctions concerning Zimbabwe, (b) that all forms of measures and sanctions against Zimbabwe be lifted in order to facilitate a sustainable solution to the challenges that are currently facing Zimbabwe; and (c) commit themselves to working together in engaging the international community with a view to bringing to an end the country’s international isolation”.

The above actions are necessary to identify the legal and tax hazards in the company’s operations and to validate future business plans.

In both cases, the declarant seeks to interpret the treaty, but in the first case it does not make its interpretation a condition for participation in the treaty, whereas in the second case its interpretation cannot be dissociated from the expression of its consent to be bound.

At its substantive session of 2010, the Council, in its resolution 2010/29, requested the Secretary-General to submit to the Council at its substantive session of 2011 a detailed report on the efforts and progress made by United Nations entities and on gaps and challenges that they still face in mainstreaming a gender perspective in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all policies and programmes and in capacity development, and include in the report a section on how UN Women will carry out its work, including by strengthening coordination, identifying areas for improvement and elevating the level of attention given to this cross-cutting issue.
