I would like to begin my remarks this afternoon with words of tribute to Professor Rex Nettleford, who delivered the inaugural keynote lecture at the 2007 commemoration at the General Assembly.

TOEFL Practice Online recreates an authentic TOEFLiBT testing experience and helps familiarize test takers with the format and question types, and assists with their readiness for test day.

When you finish your English course you can choose to sit for one of the major internationally recognised tests, including the Cambridge Test (CAE), the Pearson test (PTE) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

On behalf of overseas examining bodies and local professional bodies, it also administers various examinations leading to academic, professional or practical qualifications, including the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examinations, and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Examination.

The Advisory Committee was informed that the incumbent would be responsible for coordinating and liaising with various offices and entities, including with the Office of Information and Communications Technology to address issues related to the hosting of the system; the vendor in relation to the technical matters and upgrading of equipment; the Department of Safety and Security for perimeter security access control; the Umoja project team for human resources data and asset management; the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) for a lost or stolen travel document database; and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

There is a need for a number of additional measures such as succession planning to determine whether retiring staff are best replaced by developing existing staff or recruiting from outside the Organization; the development of competency frameworks for staff at the P-1 to P-4 levels and staff in the General Service category; the development and implementation of training and development plans to support the competency frameworks; and appropriate contractual arrangements and benefits that promote UNESCO as an employer of choice.
