This Agreement represents the understanding of the Governments of the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Marshall Islands (the), the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu (each of them will be referred as “the Country”) and the Executive Committee with respect to the reduction of controlled use of the ozone-depleting substances (ODS) set out in Appendix 1-A (“The Substances”) to a sustained aggregate level of 2.11 ODP tonnes prior to 1 January 2020 in compliance with Montreal Protocol schedules, with the understanding that this figure is to be revised one single time in 2011, when the baseline consumption for compliance would be established based on Article 7 data, with the funding to be adjusted accordingly, as per decision 60/44.

At the 42nd meeting, on 29 July, the observer for Maldives, on behalf of Australia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Cuba, Dominica, Fiji, Haiti, India, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Maldives, the Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, New Zealand, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Samoa, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uruguay and Vanuatu, introduced a draft resolution entitled “Review of United Nations support for small island developing States” (E/2009/L.35).

The Resolution urged Member Governments to ensure that nutrition and health claims were not permitted on breast milk substitutes except where specifically provided for in national legislation.

The visitors to the exhibition, including the President of France at that time, Mr. Jacques Chirac, and the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Federico Mayor, became acquainted with the artefacts on display, which reflected the scientific and cultural heritage of the period of Tamerlane and the Timurids (valuable manuscripts, coins, items of clothing and so on), and also with contemporary works relating to the period of the Timurids by Uzbek artists and craftsmen.

The Federated States of Micronesia was strongly of the view that the inadequacy of mitigation actions to reduce greenhouse gases, together with insufficient funding for adaptation to address the adverse impact of climate change, constituted violations of its right to life and liberty, and its right to be free from fear and want.

The Committee noted a number of international and regional conferences held on remote sensing, such as the International Symposium and Exhibition on Geoinformation 2011, held in Kuala Lumpur in September 2011; the International Workshop on Remote Sensing of the Environment for the Sub -Saharan Regions, organized by IAA and held in Nairobi in October 2011; the meeting of experts on the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), organized by the Secure World Foundation and held in Brussels in February 2012; and the regional conference on GMES, co-organized by the Government of Romania, the European Commission, ESA and EURISY, and held in Bucharest in May 2012.
